Ecuador has revised its total number of cases downwards for the second time in the last three days: "confirmed cases are reduced by -1,480, in relation to yesterday's record; the adjustment is mainly due to the fact that beyond the number of tests, cases are reported according to the citizen's ID number" the Government said in a statement [source]. The Government had already reduced the total by -2,461 cases on May 6.

國際追究新冠肺炎(武漢肺炎)疫情責任的聲浪不斷，德國情報單位指出，中國國家主席習近平親自要求世衛秘書長譚德塞淡化疫情的嚴重性，中國的隱匿造成全球至少損失一個月的時間抗疫。

最新一期「明鏡周刊」（Der Spiegel）報導，根據德國聯邦情報局（BND）情資，中國國家主席習近平1月21日與世界衛生組織（WHO）秘書長譚德塞（Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus）通話時，要求世衛不要發布病毒人傳人的訊息和延後全球大流行的警告。

結果世衛沉默多天，直到1月底才宣布2019冠狀病毒疾病（COVID-19）是「國際關注的公共衛生緊急事件」。

報導指出，西方國家普遍認為，如果不是中國隱瞞訊息，疫情會容易控制得多，德國聯邦情報局的結論是由於北京封鎖消息，全球平白損失4到6個禮拜的時間對抗病毒。

南德日報（Süddeutsche Zeitung）報導，德國羅伯特．科赫研究所（Robert Koch Institute）的專家也確信，疫情爆發一開始中國提供的訊息就不完整，為有效防疫，這個全國公共衛生的主管機關只好向聯邦情報局求助。
