Yea I think so.
Although I took econ courses during undergraduate freshman and sophomore years, my study has come up short of helping me understand the thrust of Piketty's work.
While the prose itself is somewhat lay-oriented, and at some point Piketty's argument only reiterates common sensical banality (ie 媽媽是女人) I find the book did quite a thorough job at connecting the economic dots in modern history.
