MBBS vs MB ChB

1. U life
different styles and approaches when meeting your uni-mate. typical comparison between CU and HKU. Also note the intimacy between the ocamp groups between HKU and CU. All medical students will be given an ocamp group for CU, and will last throughout your studies; HKU med students does not necessarily participate in ocamp for medicine. Personally think that CU students are nicer and are willing to help each other out. Another point to note is that due to Dy2(CU) ( yr 2 entry), courses from yr1 will be simple and thus you will enjoy be able to enjoy ulife in yr 1; while enrichment year in MBBS pushes students to read all preclinical courses in year 1&2(actually similar for CU, but in year 2&3).

2. Block based vs subject based( preclin)
MBBS: a block includes all pharamcoloy, physiology, anatomy, histology, etc., integrated
MBChB: split into 3 subjects, to be studied separately, MMG, Physiology and Anat.

4. different expertise and strengths
The general perception is that CU med will give more caring doctors while HKU, confident and skilled. Different in expertise as well, e.g. liver transplant and GI.

5. General Education requieement
CUHK would require more GE as graduation requirement, lots of Philosophical related courses in year 1, as well as College GE. Some Colleges would require FYP. Ask your frds in CU about UGFN, UGFH and UGEA, the compulsory courses for graduation requirement. HKU has fewer requirements in common cores.

HKUST electronic engineering

year 1 讀math 1013 1014 (冇m1/m2就讀math1012),都係學返d pure math程度calculus,convergence of series
phy讀phys1112學mechanics, thermodynamics,mechanical waves有phy底其實唔難;phys1114讀introductory electromagnetism同optics,應該係year 1 science course concept上數一數二難

elec1100學基本circuit analysis,boolean logic,砌架車仔做project,elec1200學基本signal野

year 2有math2011學multivariable calculus (partial d呀,stokes theorem依d野其實唔難),math2111學linear algebra(concept上難,m2 matrix知識基本上冇用),math2351讀ode,pde其實唔難鳩做就得,elec2600讀probability distribution同sampling又係其實唔難(4個最少讀3個)
elec2100讀signal & system讀DTFS,CTFS,DTFT,CTFT,總之就fourier transform對住個表鳩做就得,個course內容係難,不過到時會有神ta carry你唔撚驚
elec2200讀digital circuit即係boolean logic讀吓0同1讀吓logic gate又係好淺
elec2300讀microprocessor讀吓一個mcu點運作,要知道吓基本assembly lang難就唔算難,但都唔係淺,係有好多detail要知
elec2400讀analogue circuit計吓voltage計吓current做吓transformation咁,又係好淺有神ta,不過要識用計數機計ac circuit d complex number,將所有野當V=IZ就得

year 3有6個3字頭elective揀(最少揀3個)
elec3100讀digial communication+signal processing,又係fourier transform不過有DFT同FFT仲有讀optimal filter同gaussian noise,又係有2100個神ta carry唔撚驚其實唔難
elec3200讀control聽講幾mathematical,全部都係laplace transform聽落都覺得淺
elec3300讀hardware+software integration好似要學c++冇試考,只係做個proj要整件實物,youtube打elec3300就有好多例子,其實幾practical同聽落幾好玩
elec3400讀integrated circuit,好似係學吓d基本circuit design,pmos nmos咁樣,不過冇讀唔知,聽講同3500好多野重疊
elec3500讀semiconductor device,就係讀吓d p-n junction呀mosfet moscap,diode等等運作原理,同3400好多重疊(不過3400注重應用,依科就原理),唔知係prof教得麻麻定太快,d野好撚難明,不過平時肯上堂去齊lab做齊hw(tutorial會教晒點做)做齊quiz就實好grade,個final exam唔會佔好高分,open book open computer open mobile phone open everything不過你亦唔會識做(上連登問都冇用),去到坐3個鐘算啦,同hw 2個世界黎,到時個個得20%-30%分都好正常;btw個prof話如果你乜都唔做乜都唔交但係final exam拎到8成自動會A,但你聽吓就算,份卷拎8成仲難過爆4
elec3600讀introductory e & m,係phys1114進階版,好多math2011野會用到,有d math野直程2011都唔教,主要讀4條maxwell equations,計lorentz force同poisson/laplace equation會學到ODE同PDE (math2351野),基本上係applied math同applied phy黎,數底好嘅其實唔難

year 4就讀2個elective,有好多選擇例如VLSI design,wireless communication,error-correcting code,biomedical野,optics,photonics,computer networking,image processing,robotics,embedded system,power electronics, IC design, semiconductor device etc基本上乜叉都有

其實同中學比workload唔算高,只係每個ee course都有4-5個lab (個別course更多,12個都見過),d野都淺,有時間的話最好讀多d 3字頭,識嘅野都闊d

Lifs 1902( 同dse 差唔多 難少少）
Lifs 1901 （dse 冇bio 所以同dse 差唔多）
Math 1012/1013 ( 1012就dse 冇讀m1/m2嘅 1013 就俾有讀嘅 大家學嘅一樣 都係基本calculus differentiation integration limit 咁上下 不過比中學多幾條theory grade 一般）
Lifs 1904 (lab course 不過 條撚頭 教書差 出卷難 grade 未睇都知爛 ）
你地 fall 讀咗lifs 1902 可以係spring term 讀 2字頭嘅course

想major Chem
Chem 1020 （學 atomic orbital 之類 同以前al相似加 啲dse physics and chem 不過難少少）
Chem 1030（同1020類似 不過唔學atomic orbital 學 physical chem)
Chem 1050 (lab course pass and fail only 0workload)
Chem 1055(lab course 0 workload)
Math 1012/1013 (參考上面）
Math 1014 (學 用integration 搵volume 加prove convergence divergence of sequence 加 vector 難度中上 grade 見人見智 我自己覺得一般）



其他major 唔清楚
不過你要入所有major (chem,phy,math, environmental science)除左 life science 全部都要 take math1012/1013 +math 1014
