I know that US green card holders can stayed outside of the US for 12 months without affecting their green card status. People with Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK will have their ILR status revoked if not living in the UK for 2 years.

我三張幾野，人到中年，講真，以人工計（過5皮）比下有餘，但可能對得客多，自己知呢度嘅人同環境都唔適合我～
老老柒柒！我同老婆都傾過，如果淨係我地兩個，用積蓄喺度隻眼開隻眼閉過埋下半生都冇所謂，大不了咪拎錢搬去泰國住，住九個月出境過冷河，再返過去，咁大個人有乜所謂！
但係我地有個仔，呢度教育每況愈下，又洗腦又填鴨又吹捧精仔馬屁又多怪獸家長小孩，我唔想個仔喺度長大，都成日諗移民，仲ielts都考埋（總分7.5但屌你老母writing6.5 ）
依家諗緊邊度好（老婆唔like美國）
利申：屌你老母做緊廣告呀！日日凌晨放工好撚折墮！

為子女放棄安穩生活
我年頭返過香港，其中最大嘅體會係絕望。唔止一個人用絕望來形容前景

不過好多高學歷高收入新移民要從事低技術工作or高危工種, e.g. 做餐館 揸的士 要有心理準備做唔返本行 或者做自己生意 (亦有好多成功例子)

生活水平可能不及香港 但起碼可以做個有尊嚴有自由嘅人

I don't know anything about IT business in the UK. You will need to do more research on UK's IT business environment before moving towards getting a Tier 1 visa.

Another point for you to consider is that if you have British National (Overseas) status, use your BN(O) passport to apply for your UK Tier 1 visa. There are a number of advantages over HKSAR passport -

1) BN(O) passport holders do not need to register with the local police where they live, while HKSAR passport holders, as Chinese nationals, are required to register with the local police in the UK.

2) BN(O) passport holders, as Commonwealth citizens, can register to vote in all UK elections. Being on the electoral roll helps you to build up your credit history in the UK. HKSAR passport holders are not entitle to register to vote in the UK.

3) BN(O) passport holders can register to become a British Citizen using form B(OTA), which is cheaper than naturalisation for HKSAR passport holders. (Registration using form B(OTA) cost £1163 vs Naturalisation using form AN cost £1282 - both are 2017 prices)

really hard to decide between starting a business or doing a trade. The latter seems to be a sure way to get a job and settle down in the country. Hence higher chance for getting a PR/Citizenship. Starting a business involves lots of business and inherent risks but it would be a lot faster to get a PR if the business can somehow survive for 5 years.

Second thing - what kind of skills you have? Your skills may get you a job in the UK.

Joining the army....i wish i had that kind of mental & physical toughness to pull it through. I might if i have no choice lol

Getting a job in UK would be great even a shitty job would make my life seem less pathetic than slaving my life away

Im under 30 so working holiday is still in my bucket list.
