Anyone born in Hong Kong before 1983 would automatically become a CUKC under the British Nationality Act 1948. CUKC became British Dependent Territories Citizens for most Hong Kong people in 1983.

For those who were born in Hong Kong on or after 1983 - if at the time of your birth, one of your parent (either father or mother) was a Hong Kong permanent resident or a British Dependent Territories Citizen , then you would receive British Dependent Territories Citizenship at birth.

A British Dependent Territories Citizen will need to apply for a British National (Overseas) passport before September 1997 in order to have the right to use a British passport after the handover.

有香港居留權不等於你無機會拎CI，CI係畀啲有香港永久居民但係佢哋無辦法拎任何國家嘅旅行證件，先會拎CI

拎BDTC要你父或母都要有香港居留權，你出生先至會因父母關係取得BDTC（就香港出生黎講）

一旦有BDTC身份你就有權由請BDTC護照，所以唔會拎到CI

而當年你能夠得到BNO呢個身份嘅條件只有一個就係你有憑香港關係取得嘅BDTC

咁我再講多樣，當時11歲以下兒童只有兩種情況下可以拎到11歲以下人士身份證

1. 申請BNO或CI
2. 在申請上述證件時未持有身份證
