我首先係webchat HMPO 話印左Tsuen Wan做place of birth.
“Thank you for your enquiry.
I have checked your passport details and they are correct.
We no longer put the country of birth on the passport just the place (town) of birth unless there are other places with the same name in other countries.”
Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
For my case, I think Tsuen Wan is one of the 18 districts in Hong Kong, however, as a Hong Kong citizen, normally in Hong Kong we seldom use the districts name to represent our place of birth in other officials document. Also, in terms of immigration and on check in counter, the relevant officials will confuse about the place of birth by using Tsuen Wan comparing to Hong Kong as they might not familiar with different districts in Hong Kong.
May I just double confirm that this is a new policy in regards of using town of birth to represent for other Hong Kong application?
Thank you very much for your consideration in my application. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Dear Mr xxx,
You recently wrote to us regarding the place of birth on your passport.
Your recently issued passport was issued with the place of birth you submitted on the online form when applying.
If however you would like the passport issuing as per your previous with the place of birth shown as Hong Kong, please kindly return the passport to the above address and we will re-issue with your preferred place of birth.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and look forward to hearing from you.
Yours Sincerely,
C.Owolabi
