“I was very hopeful to see Justin [Theroux]’s name for best drama actor — I was a little heartbroken about that,” she told TheWrap. “I was a little heartbroken for my friends because I’m so proud of our final season.”
“We’ve never been recognized by the Emmys — we didn’t necessarily count on it this year,” Coon explained. “We were just a little more hopeful because of all the wonderful, thoughtful pieces that have been written about the show. It really resists any trite conversation. We’re very proud of it, and I think history will be very kind to the show. I think it’s one of the great shows that will continue to resonate.”
“My mom was disappointed — my mom was hoping for two Emmy nominations this morning,” Coon added with a laugh. “[I’m] like, ‘Mama, let’s be grateful for what we have.'”
Did the actress realize she was trending on Twitter shortly after the nominations were announced?
“No, I didn’t,” Coon said, bursting into laughter. “It must have been angry Leftovers fans. . . was it? I have never trended on Twitter before!”
