taken during my first test/shoot after Eye AF became available
But at that moment the Eye AF would switch to 'just' Face AF if used from too far, in my observation over 2,5 meters, away, with a 105mm, limiting the maximum frame using Eye AF to about a half total for a lengthwise normally built person
With the new firmware it sticks to Eye AF up to around 4 meters using a 105mm, and about 3 meters with a 58mm, boiling down to a generous three quarter frame of a person standing straight up
Also, with the 'old' Eye AF, the focus would stay frozen if the Eye AF lost the subject/eye, and erroneously wander/lock on eg something in the background, in which case the camera would have to be shut down to 'reboot' the AF
With the new AF, it still can wander on something in the background if the subject/eye is lost, eg when for a moment aiming the camera away from a face.
But in my quick and dirty test, I found it would suffice to just free the release button for a quick moment (I have AF activation on the release button)
When then the release button was pressed again immediately after that, the Eye AF would near instantaneous snap back on the eye correctly, so no need to shut down the camera, IMO quite an improvement
