我冇講得好清楚,我用engineer 1,2,3 啦因為FAANG level數字有啲出入。我依家係 engineer 2 唔係3,我估你係a字頭,當係你嘅L5,咁都好普通。係我manager話我今年年中或年尾有得升,除非佢玩9我,到時應該有四年。其實我都覺有啲快,今年升唔到都唔會hard feeling,其他senior好多都10+ 年work experience。
我年半前reorg左個新team,到依家都請唔到一個senior,啲野米塞俾我做。我個project唔算好難做,叫做由零design同砌左啲CRUD API之後有人用。當然要overtime係咁諗啲design同埋去問sister team啲大佬點做。溝通(包括寫design options,畫圖)同問人真係好重要,好多問題都係principal/staff engineer講幾句就解決左

最後升職就要証明你個scope夠大,已經lead緊條team。
有幾種情况令你難升:
1. 西team冇好project,你又未勁到識諗啲新野去sell俾老細
2. 條team已有senior,難嘅project俾哂佢輪唔到你。我係manager都靠個senior啦。
3. 冇senior不過個project真係太難,俾你做都係拔苗助長,卡死係design

4. 冇senior但係你同級有人勁過你,霸左啲好project。我都有過好friend嘅teammate覺得冇好project,應該係俾我霸左
