其實最簡單係睇Kind of Blue版本嘅transcription,分析返各人做咗啲乜,用咗啲咩device。呢隻碟太經典太出名,有人幫成碟出咗full score嘅transcription,你想睇貓屎,Trane,Cannonball,Bill Evans,甚至Ron Carter做咗啲乜都係一目了然。
玩jazz一般嚟講都唔好用太多blues scale同bend線,用得唔好個聲好柒,熟咗jazz呢種語言先再諗點加返blues落去。

其實一個D dorian都可以好有趣,scale/mode除咗順住走上走落,仲可以arpeggio (triad/7th chord/quartal harmony),可以玩sequence/pattern,pattern係近乎無限,diatonic 3rd/5th咁上 (4th同6th都得,只係3rd/5th嘅inversion),或者7th, 9th都得 (參考Oz Noy)。pattern亦可以base on一句短phrase做,例如俾Trane玩到爛嘅1235,或者任何tetrad都無壞e.g.1 2 b3 5。phrasing方面你mix and match上以嘅嘢,已經好多變化,仲可以玩pedal tone (oblique motion),仲有contrary motion,similar motion (classical music counterpoint嘅概念)。
以上嘅option都係講緊single line (除咗counterpoint),結他佬仲可以做double stop,triad,7th chord,quartal harmony,而每個chord都有唔同聲嘅inversion。(參考Wes Montgomery) 當然都有簡sir講嘅chord substitution玩法 (有人叫superimposition,當佢係reharmonization都ok)。sub ii V或者secondary dominant,甚至sub個coltrane change落去都無問題,好聽嘅話你唔resolve都得。
然後以上講嘅嘢可以代入任何scale/mode去練,harmonic minor同melodic minor固然係good fit,印象Trane喺So What有句都有用harmonic minor。當你consider曬我上面講嘅嘢,就應該唔會覺得悶了。
但我仲未講節奏上嘅變化喎,有好多rhythmic variation可以做......
