Although there's no agreement yet, Barcelona are optimistic that they will manage to extend Ousmane Dembele's contract, Mundo Deportivo's reliable Gabriel Sans reports.
It's said that the club has maintained contact with the 24-year-old's representatives over the Internet in the last few days in order to advance the negotiations.
The Catalans are unlikely to offer Dembouz a big salary after the injury he picked up earlier this summer.
As for Ousmane, he is said to be worried that he will not get enough playing time once he recovers. Barca have brought Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero to strengthen the attack. In addition, Ansu Fati will soon be back on the pitch as well.
Barca want to exclude the possibility of the Frenchman leaving for free next summer when his contract is set to expire. If Dembele refuses to extend his deal, he will be banished to the stands and won't play in the 2021/22 season.
