I’m Canadian but not residing in Canada. At the moment I’m in Toronto as a “visitor”. I plan to take up residency in Canada again when I return from hk in a few months. That’s why I’m seeking help from pros like you and gather info to get the right docs before re-entering.

Do you have Ontario driver's licence, OHIP, bank account, rented/leased/or own a property in Canada now. Do yo have relatives here now and how old are they? I think I remember your case now. Your HK income while you are a non-resident are not taxable in Canada. If you have an Ontario driver's licence, OHIP and entered into a rental lease/bought a house, then you may be a resident for tax purposes now.
