You need to read the these two sentences together - you can drive in the UK using your Hong Kong driving licence for up to 12 months. However once you lived in the UK for 12 months, you will need to exchange your Hong Kong driving licence to an UK one in order to drive in the UK.

Once you become a resident in the UK, which means that you have spent at lease 6 months in the UK, you can exchange your Hong Kong driving licence to an UK one. You have 5 years to exchange your Hong Kong driving licence to an UK one as long as your Hong Kong driving licence is valid at the time. It does not mean that you will be given an UK driving licence for 5 years!

In the UK, the photocard driving licence is valid for 10 years. You will need to supply a new photo to DVLA every 10 years, however, your driving entitlement is valid until your 70th birthday.

HKG3 巴打，睇睇下淨係見到話要住夠五年同唔可以離開過特定日數。想問下咁留學既日子計唔計呢？
