Geforce 2070 Max resolution: 7680x4320

We can see from your scenario that on the 970 adding 4k+1080p = 3840 x 2160 + 1920 x 1080 = 5760 x 3240 -- close enough?? EDIT: lol bad adding since not same height but its not important how close only that this is the limit you are hitting

On the 2070 you would have 4k x4 = the quickest way to see this is 2 across 2 down to fit properly (aka proper 8k resolution) so 3840x2 accross by 2160x2 height =7680 x 4320 -- dead on!!
