Mamamoo Earn Best U.S. Sales Week Yet With 'Red Moon,' First Appearance on Heatseekers Albums Chart
The world is eagerly anticipating the "blood moon" lunar eclipse this weekend, and Mamamoo's Red Moon is earning the girl group new chart accolades.
The powerhouse quartet score their best U.S. sales week to date with their new Red Moon EP, which sold 1,000 copies in the week ending July 19 and debuts at No. 4 on Billboard's World Albums chart. Mamamoo have landed six entries on World Albums to date, starting with 2015's Pink Funky (which peaked at No. 7 on the chart), Melting (No. 8) and Memory (No. 12) both from 2016, followed by 2017's Purple (which hit No. 1, their only chart-topper so far), and Yellow Flower from earlier this year (No. 7).
Mamamoo's best U.S. sales week also scores the group their first appearance on the Heatseekers Albums chart -- a ranking that sees far fewer K-pop acts. Starting at No. 25, Mamamoo become just the third female K-pop act to enter Heatseekers this year following Twice and Red Velvet. (It should be noted that Blackpink would have also landed on Heatseekers if their Square Up EP had charted lower than No. 100 on the Billboard 200 since Heatseekers only ranks up and coming musicians that have had albums place below the top 100 of the Billboard 200.)
