由小勞勃道尼 Robert Downey Jr. 所飾演的路易斯史特勞斯 Lewis Strauss 是一位美國商人、慈善家和海軍軍官，家族是製鞋起家，後來路易斯靠著銀行投資累積了大量財富，再之後他於二次大戰期間參戰並加入海軍，並負責軍械局管理海軍彈藥的工作。二戰期間，因為二戰早起路易斯的父母雙雙因癌症去世，同時憑藉自己早期對物理的興趣，而成立了研究基金會，目的在於為癌症患者提供良好的放射性治療，遂跨足原子能界，路易斯則在戰後成為了接管曼哈頓計劃的「美國原子能委員會，AEC」的主席。同時也因為他在商業上的成就，路易斯也曾擔任過美國商務部長。

Oppenheimer was actually an outspoken opponent of Strauss' desires to harness the atom and eventually weaponize it.
