I don’t know about the others, but I myself can instantly tell whether you’re a local or not.
Ye dress plain clothes to the point that sometimes it’s just black & white, and the mainlanders prefer flashy ones, and an obsession for “white” skin somehow. I’d actually love to have darker skins.
They also have a different vibe and they’d tend to stare at me on the street as if there’s something wrong with me. Hong Kongers are a bit timid in the same scenario, they might still stare at me, but they’d absolutely look away as soon as I stare back.
And don’t worry guys, I get that a lot, people often think I’m British, sometimes I just go along with it anyway. Sure look we’re all the same!

I would recommend you to read or to watch videos about the Easter Rising. It is known to be the uprising in Ireland that led to the independence from the UK.

一個人用詞與否取決於年齡心智或情況,政治辯論情況下formal都唔出奇用你都唔想見到人用 lol ok回覆啦係咪?

Agreed.
Even if not children of officials should be rich second gen whose parents also toe the party line.
I just think it's a real pity the only news and reactions we see of the mainland as a whole is just that of what the CCP wants.
Just as ironic, it seems like my friends meet mostly neutral or even the occasional supportive student in the mainland, and they do care, but caring is useful if u can't express it. Personal chats are one thing, online censorship is another

上得forum 打字就已經唔formal
同你所謂政治辯論咁formal點比
呢d係behave同習慣,成句語氣根本唔似native speaker, 個段咩stare黎stare去,更加睇到我一頭霧水,極似用中文結構去表達英文

The party's line is quite clear and provocative. I am actually very worried with what the next generation of Chinese, which I see trends from them tuning to Nazis. The nationalism in China is advocated in a level that, even if you do not agree with the party, you might still agree with their policies because that "will make China stronger".
The hegemony of China in fact places a serious danger to the mankind, even worse than the Soviet Union era. The differences between Soviets and the US are just communist vs capitalism, or a fight of the global hegemony. Yet the ideology of China is more immersed and well adapted by the forgotten countries since the Soviet's era. Look at the African countries, look at the SE Asian countries. Soviets at least advocate their superiority on labour rights and other shits, but Chinese simply provides a viable way for dictators to grip their power while having the economy growing.....

My English is not good but I still want to say something
It is lihkg that we can express dissatisfaction with the government in a funny and creative way
Like user rewrites the lyrics of hk famous songs and post it on YouTube.
As u know, HK is such a fast-paced city which packed with schedules. We do need a platform to release our stress. Lihkg is the best choice for us.

In fact in my experience they can be rescued.
The Chinese miracle is a miracle of economic growth. You just have to show them how we HKers can do even better.
p.s. Just a matter of fact : The Chinese authority always claim that they made a great progress on their economy since 1979. However basically all countries who opened their market 40 years ago have grown that much, and percentage-wise South Korea and Japan have a much larger growth than that of China. I think I saw that chart in Economist a few years ago......

aye, Xi's Strong China stance is playing with in group psychology but that's what he's best at, even better than trump.
imo nationalism isnt the most major problem, the problem is that china is just too fucking large, and thats the fuel that is adding to the fire.
when your pop is so large and statistics allow for stable no. of high educated youth, you can recruit genii right out of high school into weapons programs and AI. That's when shit starts hitting the fan.
Consider how other countries also have strong nationalism, they still can do anything, cuz they don't have the manpower.

TBH there might be disagreements but this is what I observe, some of you might not be happy with me....
Some provincial officials in China are working even better than the HKGov. While there are no "true" elections in mainland China, the local government has to listen to the people's voice, at least for some of the issues, because the officials' career is tied with the success of his administration. As a result while the bureaucrats are brutal in some issues, if they made a serious mistake in misjudging the civilian's thought, they are done. This is also practiced in Singapore and some other "dictatorial Asian countries" where a dictator can still be sort of "democratic" by listening to the public's demand and slowly liberating.
However this is entirely not true for HK. In HK every time the CE has an issue with HK ppl he or she can simply stand behind the CCP by selectively reporting what is happening. Notice: The Chinese officials are actually unfamiliar to what is happening, and no high-rank officials are coming from HK in their system. That makes the CE the person with power but no responsibility since the CPP will always help when shit happens.
Therefore the core problem of HK is actually institutional.
