Toulouse - Airbus holds back the delivery of five A330 to Hainan Airlines, Tianjin Airlines, and Beijing Capital Airlines due to the late payments from Chinese conglomerate HNA Group.
HNA appears to have fallen behind with payments to Airbus. According to Reuters news agency, Airbus does not want to deliver up to five A330 to HNA subsidiary airlines amid a dispute over late payments.
Neither Airbus nor the Chinese group commented on the news about the A330s parked in the colors of airlines Hainan Airlines, Tianjin Airlines, and Beijing Capital Airlines.
After six months of talks, Airbus took the decision to withdraw the planes as it does not want to play the financier, said a person who is familiar with the matter.
It is in the process of being resolved, another person involved in the matter.
We keep our talks and contractual terms with customers confidential, an Airbus spokesman said.
A bunch of undelivered A330 aircraft was realized by Reuters reporters during a ceremony to present Airbus's smallest new jet, A220.
Reuters journalists counted five A330 parked around the delivery center with reflective sunshade protectors fastened to the cockpit windows and all painted with the liveries of HNA Group airlines.
