As I covered in a story a few weeks ago, Marvel fans have set up a petition asking Disney to start delivering 4K Blu-rays of Marvel films with at least the option to watch sequences shot using the large-format IMAX system in their original aspect ratio, rather than only being able to watch the straight 2.39:1 ratio created for non-IMAX cinemas.

Disney’s press release on Avengers: Infinity War, though, stated that the film was going to be sticking with the 2.39:1 ratio on 4K Blu-ray. And now reliable sources are confirming what was at hinted at in the press release: namely that even the film’s 3D Blu-ray release will not support the IMAX ratio, despite previous 3D Marvel releases doing so.
