🆕 IVAO Network - VOICE REQUIREMENT REGULATION UPDATE
After extensive consultation with our global staff team, the Executive Council, and the Board of Governors (including Legal Advisors), we are excited to announce that our updated voice requirements have now been officially approved and will take effect on 1st December 2024.
This update is designed to elevate the realism of our network by ensuring that all interactions between controllers and pilots reflect real-world aviation standards, while also being inclusive to all members. Please find the changes below:
🔊 2.5.4 ATC Voice Requirements
✈️
Air Traffic Controllers must be able to send and receive voice. In cases where a station offers a text-based service, such as CPDLC or Datalink, text may be used where appropriate.
🎙️ 2.5.5 Pilot Voice Requirements
🛫
Pilots must be able, at minimum, to receive voice communications but may send text messages. Members with recognized disabilities (e.g., hearing difficulties) who are unable to send or receive voice messages are required to inform Network Supervisors of their situation.
⚠️ 2.5.6 Abuse of Text Privileges
✋ Members who misuse text-only privileges may face disciplinary action, including potential suspension, as determined by the Executive Council.
❌ 2.5.7 Denying Approved Text Privileges
🚫 Controllers who deny approved text accommodations are in violation of our commitment to maintaining a discrimination-free and accessible environment. Disciplinary action will be taken as necessary, as determined by the Executive Council.
Please make sure to familiarize yourself with these changes before they go live on 1st December 2024.
