What does dance artist mean? Dance artists are professional dancers and choreographers who perform in a variety of stage environments for different types of audiences.

The difference is this: A dancer dances for herself or for her partner who is dancing with her. A performer dances for people who are watching her. It is very different attitude and skill set. A performer cares more how she LOOKS, even from far away. A dancer cares more how she and her parter FEELS. It is very different… A dancer can do many elements and figures which are not visible or do not even look good. A performer usually does not care about it. She cares more about her look, impression, choreography, lightning (to be in the light circle if there is one), etc. One more difference. A performer must perform even if she is sick or tired. No excuses. This requires significanly more preparation and skill than just dancing.
