自動駕駛工程師 2020-11-18 07:11:08

Is there a true definition of being an Engineer in the US? SWE jobs don’t even need a degree nowadays so I’m not sure what you are trying to gate keep here. Do you have a PE license in Software Engineering so you can claim to be “An Engineer”?

Throwing out technical jargons about a certain security flaw doesn’t mean shit. Voting in person through the computer system is still susceptible to “man in the middle attack” since there are still intermediate systems that handles the transaction between those machines and the tallying system. You might as well say using computers aren’t safe because of potential memory leaks or thread safety that bugged millions of program worldwide

Since you are an “Engineer”, you should understand that there’s no absolute “safe” or “perfect” engineering systems, but process/procedures are designed in place to maximize robustness of systems, which is why there’s a series of protocol on how to handle and count mail in ballots.

Again, either present evidence that fraud happened or you are just speculating based on technical knowledge about “cyber securities” (which i can also do the same in my own field). If we need to agree to disagree then so be it

His tax cuts plan is controversial.

Some people agrued that big corporations can use the money they save from the tax cuts to reinvest to the society, which will create more jobs and wealth for overall American. Just like what Reagan did back in 1980s.

Drop your FAKE TITLE "自動駕駛工程師"
You ain't engineer.

"SWE jobs don’t even need a degree nowadays"
Don't listen to mainstream media said.
It is totally misleading.
The mainstream media is always trying to create an atmosphere of "love".
All software engineer in my office has a degree.
Maybe an SWE in Lucky supermarket does not require a degree.
A position with no degree can make 250K a year. Can you?

There's a series of the protocol so it is safe to do mail-in voting?
I trust machines more than humans.
Code auditing has to be done before any election because I do not trust humans.
Too many people get involved in the procedure, it is very likely the procedure has been undermined.

You do not understand why computer architecture is so important these days. It is because people like you do not want to THINK!
V.I.P. 2020-11-18 07:57:42
Totally agree!

Californian here as well. Been reading posts on this site for a while, and just found out from this post that maybe I can finally set up an account using my university email address. Lo and behold, it worked this time!
V.I.P. 2020-11-18 08:17:42
It's been a nice and civil thread until you come in and threadcrap.

I think you are trying to mislead people...

- "All software engineers in you office have degrees" doesn't mean it is needed everywhere. What you are stating only applies in your specific office.

- Also, when did mainstream media say SWE jobs don't even need a degree nowadays? In fact, I remember nobody call software engineers "engineers". They were called programmers, maybe it was the mainstream media who bestow them the title of engineers.

- Lucky supermarket no longer exist.

- Throwing in some hypothetical salary does not support your argument.

- If you know so well about computer architecture, please go ahead and hack this message in this post to become something more pleasing to your ears.

Read this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucky_Stores

and I quote "Lucky is currently operated by Save Mart Supermarkets in Northern California. "

and based on their job listing,
https://savemart.csod.com/ats/careersite/JobDetails.aspx?site=3&id=20988

It is Save Mart that is dealing with IT, etc....

so, maybe you can start claiming Wikipedia is mainstream media.

In case you wonder how I am able to write a few Chinese characters: the Chinese equivalent can be found online if I know the English one. then I copy/paste. For instance, I found the Chinese name of VHIS is on the website https://www.vhis.gov.hk/en/about_us/index.html. If you change it to Chinese then the Chinese name for VHIS becomes copyable. The Wikipedia pages for HK politicians have the Chinese name https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lam_Cheuk-ting. There's a whole Wikipedia article on Gweilo in English (which has the Chinese characters)

How do I know about HK politics? There is plenty of English sources about HK online. RTHK even has an English news website.

And in case someone questions my identity here is my CA ID, University ID, and the HKID card holder (which I repurpose to hold my CA ID).

Not sure but Americans are not that bright. The US is just very lucky to be the world power, we just got very lucky in history.

HISCASTDT 2020-11-18 08:44:16
It depends on the context and people do lie under threat of perjury. An affidavit is a good incentive to start investigating/researching
HISCASTDT 2020-11-18 08:45:40
There is always fraud in every election and some go unspotted. But we're talking about probably in single digits so not likely to sway an election. Close elections are always scrutinized more when those margins would matter.

The google translate is translating your characters as "There is no silver three hundred taels" which doesn't mean anything in English. If you are trying to ask me something ask in English

Voter ID is used in the US as a way to suppress votes see https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/07/poll-prri-voter-suppression/565355/ for thorough explanation why.
HISCASTDT 2020-11-18 08:55:36
The tax penalty is $0 after the Trump tax bill so Obamacare is now voluntary. Insurances on the VHIS also have deductibles. There is no Hospital Authority in the US where I can get treatment for low cost everything is private for the general public. I think Obamacare is not good enough so I favor Bernie Sanders' Medicare for All proposal.

Wildfire seasons are getting worst and the season is much longer. We used to never have large fires in December but that is very common now. See what happened in Australia with the bush fires from 2019-20 and how they are getting worse over time too.

Immigration system in the US is way too complex. I favor streamlining but yes allowing more legal immigrants. If we make it easier for people to come legally they won't need to come illegally anymore. And I favor a pathway to citizenship for those illegals that are here without a criminal record.
HISCASTDT 2020-11-18 08:57:22
Yea totally. In US academia of economics they sometimes use the term ROW= Rest of the World because we generally are just talking about the US.
Ask Americans who the PM of Canada or the UK is and many wouldn't know. Same for the President of Mexico.
HISCASTDT 2020-11-18 08:58:08
Ah nice another Californian. What do you think of In-N-Out? I honestly think it's really good but I know some people think its overrated.
HISCASTDT 2020-11-18 08:59:09
If Trump campaign has evidence I want to see it. Everyone wants an election that is fairly done.
HISCASTDT 2020-11-18 09:00:54
I answered the Bernie question on the first page so look for the answer. Short answer I like Bernie.

I'm not a big boba guy honestly. My friends seem to like ITea and T4 which are common in Norcal. I've been told the boba made on my uni campus is not very good- but no one expects a burger place to make good boba.
HISCASTDT 2020-11-18 09:03:48
Ah great that works. I asked the other Californian about In-N-Out, what do you think?
I actually like their milkshakes a lot, they are probably better than the burgers.
