First off, Latinos, Asians, and Native Americans all face systemic racism. For instance, the US government has often ignored treaties it made with he Native American tribes. Chinese immigration was banned under the Chinese-Exclusion Act.
Again, why are the drug crime rates higher from black when whites and blacks use them at the same rate? https://www.vox.com/2015/3/17/8227569/war-on-drugs-racism

I only talked about blacks because the question was asked about BLM.

You play tiktok or not?

No. I don't even have snapchat. I just use FB (including messenger), IG, signal, telegram, reddit (sometimes), discord, and Whatsapp. Even though Discord is used by many gamers, I mainly use it for academic purposes as it provides a way for us students to talk and study together with online classes.

Ah that's quite interesting how it came about. I actually think it's great for HKers to make their own English slang rather than conforming to British English.

Do you know antifa and how to think about them?
HISCASTDT 2020-11-20 08:19:35
Ah thanks for giving me context. US is a large country and everyone has different views.

One thing I share with many people that grew up in California is that I studied Spanish in secondary school but can barely speak any. This is representative of foreign language learning by English speakers in CA.

The name antifa is short for anti-facist which is something I agree with. Antifa is a loose organization so I am sure some chapters are less radical than others. I support them counter-protesting white supremacist groups or even Trump supporters. I think violence at physical objects is ok if there is an intended reason for that. Do I support antifa attacking people? Of course not. At Charlottesville, a white supremacist ended up killing an antifa counter protestor so it's not like white supremacist groups are being nice or polite to antifa.

If you look at my pervious posts I have talked about how the MSM has a center left bias so of course they cover Obama more favorably. If you look at the way they cover Bernie Sanders you will see they dislike him as much as they do Trump. MSM ran tons of disinformation against Sanders. Fox is for sure not MSM: it is a fairly recent news network and was to push back against the liberal bias in the media. I never criticized him on operation warp speed and I actually think it is a good idea and now Moderna has a vaccine that works.

The UN was broken before China. The UNSC has 5 permanent members with vetos: US, UK, France, China, and Russia (the Allies from WW2). During the Cold War, the US and the Soviets would just veto anything in the UNSC. The UNHRC is kinda useless but it is a way for the US to exert some influence.
The UN is rather useless to implement policy, it is a good way to have discussion. The WHO I think is more salvageable and during a global pandemic we need to coordinate with other countries.

There was a class that used we chat for study group and I just dropped the course instead.

Which press conference? Probably not as I have had zoom class all day. I have 1 kitchen for the whole apartment which I share with 4 other people. We have someone sleeping in the living room and 2 per bedroom.

had you been on a road trip across the states before? any places you would recommend going to visit?

have you thought of moving to other state? or planning to stay in california after graduation?

did you learn spanish in school? do schools in the US generally offer language classes in middle or high schools? or just Spanish is the key focus in the curriculum? any tips on learning a foreign language?

Often times with my friends if they want to hear the conservative perspective I often explain it. I'll also explain why I think the liberal angle is better. One of my HK friends often asks me about US history and politics so we actually have quite through discussions.

Good strategy!

On top of this, I think not only the US government need to apply pressure, US business and academia will need to do their part. Good thing that majority of the general American public already have negative view of cc party, so instead of dividing people into left and right, HKers should promote unity with as many people as possible to challenge the common enemy.
