I saw Perfume live at Saitama Super Arena twice which were absolutely incredible and unforgettable. The first time I saw their concert with my friends we were late. I remember I said "look at the time. The concert will have begun" It was quarter past eight. The concert would've started by then. It was a worthwhile concert that was compelling enough to see again. They've been strutting their stuff since they were kids so don't sell them short. At the end of the last encore they bowed onstage soaking up the applause. They met with a thunderous ovation. The group and the dancers and acrobats who were invited alongside the group gave a magnificent performance. The choreography, the lighting and stage design and the light sticks were superb and exceeded our expectations. They're very career-oriented. My brother who's also very career-minded is planning on having them endorse his company's products but he'll have to make it financially worthwhile for them. They have a worthwhile job and career. I consider music performing to be a worthwhile career. Yesterday I watched The Mummy with my friends. It was a compelling movie that begins with a flashback to Imhotep's past. After watching the movie I practised Perfume's songs on my piccolo, flute, onoe, cor anglais (English horn), clarinet, E-flat clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, contrabassoon and saxophone. I practised them with my friends who played glockenspiel, xylophone, marimba, vibraphone, chimes, celesta and timpani (kettle-drum), all of which have definite pitch. Adding these instruments makes the music more rhythmic. Saxophone, for anglais and clarinet are transposing instruments. Saxophone clarinet and bass clarinet are single reed instruments whereas oboe, cor anglais, bassoon and contrabassoon are double reed instruments. Flute is a reedless instrument. My friend Ed explained to us regarding a piece by Haydn "this passage should be played lyrically rather than rhythmically. Otherwise it's a bit cheap." I saw lots of pencil marks on the score such as cantabile, silence, no pause here, just separate, clean pedal, more melodic voicing, remain soft, stay soft, quiet, hear tenor, clearer, articulate, in time, silvery soft, gentler, take time....Regarding teaching he said "I prefer payment in blocks. My students pay monthly or for four lessons at a time. For this month It's ok to pay on a lesson-by-lesson basis because maybe you wanna see what it's like to have lessons. From next month onwards you can pay monthly. Students of all standards are welcome. I'm also an accompanist who accompanies instrumentalists, singers and other performers for exams, auditions and live performance." He asked me to get him some clementi scores as I can get them on the cheap from a friend of mine.
