Cross Realms: Chapter III - Release Schedule

After nearly 7 months of work, with some delays and miscalculated progress, Chapter III is finally complete. Here is the planned release schedule for Cross Realms - Chapter III:


• Qi Saint - April 26th
• Qi Enlightenment - April 30th
• Qi Mastery - May 4th
• Qi Harmony - May 8th
• Public - May 12th

Status Update #32


Hello there!

This week we've been lining up a lot of tasks for the upcoming weeks. Better SFX, missing ambience and music, missing renders, render fixes and more. A little bit of all-round maintenance, basically. We've passed the spot where we considered ending on a cliffhanger some time ago, and pushing further has been the right choice.

Freeplay is now also done, at least for the moment until we return to create renders for it. There's also going to be some focus on Ember soon.

At this point, it's safe to say that 0.7 is going to surpass 0.5 in terms of size. There's still content left to create too, including one of the hardest scenes.

We might ditch the weekly summary going forward in favor of an overall development percentage. We're still undecided on that, but we'll be trying out different approaches again. This week we also included the unreported renders that we've been leaving out from this dev cycle's reports, as mentioned in the beginning.

The next status update will be on the 2nd of May.

Freya Alley

While working on a Freya scene, we reminisced a bit about its creation. Originally this was a clipping for a potential devlog post, but a normal status update will do just fine. We present: the blueprint for the back alley, as well as the following ite
rations until completion.

It turned out all right, at least based on the initial drawings. The moody back alley with some warm lights and the conditioner's hum. It's one of those sets that will get plenty of use, and 0.7 will offer a brief visit there again.


Update when?
We estimate that the update is 3/4 of the way done, or roughly 75-80%.

Progress has been good this time around, all things considered. Following the reception and aftermath of 0.6, we decided to make sure this update contains the type of content most players seem to be hoping for. This meant that about 3 chapters needed to be combined into one update, just like 0.5. 0.8 will be roughly the size of one chapter, or at least that's the initial plan for it. We'll keep it short, yet satisfying.

We considered putting the progress bar in the header, but Sophie's Easter special seemed like a better fit this time around. The overall percentage will be returning for the next development cycle. We hope one day the progress can be smooth and predictable. 0.6 kind of messed with this plan, but 0.7 has been pretty predictable on our end and is going as planned. Thanks for being patient with us, we appreciate it.

We'll abstain from guessing any release dates for now, but it's getting closer and closer.


Other news

Sophie clutched the win in April's special render poll! It's been a while since she won a poll, and last time there was some measuring involved.

There will also be a visit from the Easter bunny this weekend.

Weekly news

Good evening,
I'm still working on redesigning the relationship system in the game and adding music. Now I've stopped at day 10, it's not coming out as fast as I expected (I have to redo a few more things because of these changes).

- I've redesigned the mini-games (you'll see how later, I removed one of them altogether), now it can be played in the phone version,

- and I've also deleted a few scenes that I thought were superfluous (the scene where the hero wakes up in the morning and has a choice to say good morning to Kasie or watch her get dressed for work, now the hero just watches)
because at first I wanted them to have further consequences, but later I changed my mind.

In general, the game will have fewer meaningless choices and a clearer and more convenient path system.

Weekly development update – Happy Easter

Alright, this week wasn't exactly optimal or rather, this whole month kind of felt like it went by like nothing. I came back a little bit later than planed this week and also didn't have quite as much time this weekend as I would have liked to. Still, I did get the second lewd scene of the update as well as a bigger dialog scene done. Especially the dialog scene caused me quite a bit of trouble as it is somewhat of a important setup for the further development of two major characters. Normally I like to go about these things a bit more flexible, having a goal in mind but just writing the characters as it feel right and then see where it leads me but this one is a bit different as I need to archive a certain point in a pretty limited in-game time frame which is why I ended up tweaking the script quite a bit while in the process of rendering.

Anyway, just a bit of rambling on my part. As I said this month wasn't the greatest in terms of development but it wasn't horrible either. While I doubt that I'll be able to finish all the school scenes until next Sunday I should at least be able to approach the end of it, although there still remains some lewdness to be rendered. This definitely will be the most lewd school day so far but then again the lewdness is kind of bound to increase in density as the game goes on.

In either case, here is a quick render I made for today. I do wish you all a happy Easter or just a relaxing Sunday, whichever you prefer.
