What is certain is that in the 10th century, it was the most powerful city in the region. It ruled local commerce and became an attractive place of pilgrimage. Its growth coincided with monumental construction, which is strikingly similar in style to the Toltec culture of the Mexican highlands. Did Chichen Itza fall into the hands of strangers? Recent discoveries have revealed a possible fifth Cenote beneath the famous El Castillo, findings that may shed additional light on the history of the most important and iconic city built by the Maya people.

當你第一次親臨特奧蒂瓦坎，便會對它的規模和宏偉印象深刻。阿茲特克人在14世紀重新發現這座城市時，他們必然也有這種感覺。他們將這個城市命名為「特奧蒂瓦坎」，意思是諸神誕生之地。

哪個古老文化能夠建造出如此龐大的歷史建築呢？尤其是高達65米的太陽金字塔——其高度僅次於吉薩金字塔。又有哪個文明建立了世界上第一個大都市？但關於特奧蒂瓦坎並沒有銘文或文字歷史留下，讓世人得知這座城市原來建造者的身份。

多個世紀以來，專家一直思考這些問題。不過在2019年3月，負責挖掘羽蛇金字塔的墨西哥國家人類學和歷史研究所(INAH)考古學家塞爾吉奧．戈麥斯得出一項令人難以置信的發現：瑪雅人早在特奧蒂瓦坎的建造過程中已經出現，而且時間在在公元一世紀。到底這個古老的文明在建立前哥倫佈時期世界上最大的城市方面發揮著甚麼作用呢？

When you first see Teotihuacan, its size and grandeur are immediately striking, an impression the Aztecs must have also had when they rediscovered the city in the 14th century. They baptized the city "Teotihuacan," the Birthplace of the Gods.

Which ancient culture could have built these giant monuments, notably the 65-meter high Pyramid of the Sun, the second tallest in the world after the Great Pyramid of Giza? Which civilization was responsible for founding one of the world's very first metropolis? No inscriptions or written history remain that could identify the city's original builders.

Experts have been pondering for centuries. But in March 2019, Sergio Gomez, an archeologist with Mexico's Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH), who is leading excavations at the Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent, made an incredible discovery: The Mayas were present during the construction of Teotihuacan as early as the first century A.D. What role did this ancient civilization play in erecting the world's biggest Pre-Columbian city?

位於曼哈頓的中城是美國最大的核心商業區，該區已重新規劃，新式及可持續發展的摩天大樓，逐步取代老化的建築；屹立在哈德遜城市廣場的多棟摩天大廈，採用現代化的城中城多用途設計，融合辦公室，住宅，零售及文化空間於一身；中城與哈德遜城市廣場的發展項目，旨在保持紐約的競爭力，以回應其他高速發展的國際城市，尤其是亞洲的都會。

New York City is the embodiment of the 20th century metropolis. Though new buildings have gone up throughout the decades, the cityscape is still dominated by structures erected more than 70 years ago. Wear and tear have taken a toll; the iconic city needs an upgrade.

Midtown is the largest central business district in the United States. The rezoning of a portion of the neighborhood in 2017 has spurred construction of new, more sustainable towers. The plan is to replace aging structures, step by step.

With its super high skyscrapers, Hudson Yards was conceived as a hyper-modern city-within-a-city, a mixed-use complex that fuses office, residential, commercial and cultural space. Development projects in Midtown and Hudson Yards aim to keep New York ahead of the competition from other fast-developing global cities, particularly in Asia.

東京的目標是希望成為亞洲甚至世界各地的典範。其發展藍圖的一個重點，是將垂直的高樓和高密度的建築物，融入社區生活；把雜亂無章的建設，發展成細小、超現代和可持續發展的社區。

新加坡的天然資源及土地供應有限，較其他城市更需要有長遠規劃。事實上，當地在二十多年前，已制訂長遠願景，其中，發展綠色及環保建築是重點之一。

有別於參考歐美發展模式，新加坡針對當地氣候，設計了自己的可持續發展方案。這裏有摩天大樓覆蓋在垂直的叢林中，階梯式的花園，以至長滿植物的牆壁設計，都為樓宇降溫而打造。

通過將大自然帶到城市，新加坡成為了廿一世紀城市生活可持續發展一個活生生的實驗場。在應對氣候變化的同時，該國亦確保當地能成為未來宜居城市、旅遊熱點和經濟技術強國。

Episode 1
Wild Cuba: A Caribbean Journey brings viewers back to a time just 50 years ago when the Earth’s wildlife seemed abundant. It is a journey into a lost world that may soon disappear forever as outside forces focus on the sleeping prize. For all is about to change. Colin Stafford-Johnson begins his Cuban journey in the south of the island in the great Zapata Swamp. The largest single protected area in the entire Caribbean, it is home to the very smallest bird in the world, the diminutive Bee Hummingbird. Colin ventures deep into the forests of Zapata in search of this tiny creature found nowhere else on earth.
Next stop are the Gardens of the Queen, 150 kilometres of islands, coral reefs and mangrove swamps which form one of the greatest barrier reef systems on earth. Then a night in Havana reveals some of the city’s most unlikely residents – African geckos. It’s a long way from Ghana and Liberia for these Tropical House Geckos that now stalk Havana's city streets. Colin’s journey next takes him further east to the Guantanamo region where he witnesses a remarkable wildlife spectacle – Cuban Boa Snakes hunting bats by night as they leave their home caves in Humboldt National Park.

Episode 2
Colin continues his Cuban journey on the tropical beaches of Cayo Largo an island off Cuba’s southern coast. Its shores have played host to turtles for millennia and every July, female Green Turtles arrive to lay their eggs under the cover of darkness.
Journeying back to the mainland, Colin encounters a fish unique to the island – a Manjuari. This living fossil has an extraordinary ability – it can breathe air, giving a remarkable insight into how fish may have colonised the land many millions of years ago.
Colin then searches out nectar-loving Long Tongued Bats in the forests at night, one of the world’s smallest frogs and the swamp dwelling Cuban Crocodile often said to be the world’s most agile and aggressive crocodile – only 3000 are thought to survive in the wild. Vibrant Cuban Trogons – the national bird and agile lizard rock stars – Cliff Anoles are some of the other characters Colin comes across as he seeks out the most elusive denizens of wild Cuba.
Through his journey across this remarkable island, Colin reveals how Cuba still hides some of the richest natural treasures in the Caribbean – 3,700kms of mostly pristine coastline, mountain ranges still clothed in primeval forest, swamps teeming in swamp loving creatures. And much of it thriving because of Cuba’s revolution. Decades of a socialist conservation-minded government, American embargoes and minimal development have left an island largely unchanged in five decades. Whatever your politics, Cuba’s isolation has created a natural citadel in the Caribbean, an island truly apart.

巨齒鯊與大地懶
超過2000萬年前，地球上的海洋都被一種長達16米、重60公噸的巨型鯊魚統治，牠就是巨齒鯊。這種超級獵食者擁有巨型的牙齒，吃盡無數的鯨魚和海豚，以供應龐大的身體所需。後來隨著氣候變冷、獵物遷移到其他地方，加上新競敵殺人鯨冒起，連群結隊有組織地覓食，導致巨齒鯊終在250萬年前絕種。
而在陸地，另一種巨型動物亦同樣遭到氣候變化的打擊。1000萬年前，南美洲曾出現過一種大地懶。牠們擁有大象的身高，體積是現代樹懶的200倍；牠們是草食動物，棲於陸上，動作較現代樹懶快，加上龐大體型輕易嚇退獵食者，成功侵佔了美洲，從巴塔哥尼亞到阿拉斯加都所向披靡。15000年前，早期人類開始進駐美洲大陸，在間冰期突如其來的氣候暖化發生之前，或許也曾見過這些末代大地懶一面。

Megalodon & Giant Sloths, Climate Victims
For more than 20 million years, the Earth’s oceans were ruled by a gigantic,16-meter,60-ton shark: the Megalodon. This super-predator with enormous teeth ate huge numbers of whales and dolphins to fuel its titanic organism. It went into decline when the climate cooled and its prey migrated to other regions, but above all because of the arrival of new rivals: killer whales hunting in well-organized pods. Finally, the Megalodon became extinct 2.5 million years ago.
On land, another huge animal was also hit by climate change. Giant sloths as tall as elephants, 200 times bigger than their modern cousins, appeared in South America 10 million years ago. These herbivores lived on the ground. They were faster than modern sloths and big enough to dissuade predators, and they colonized the Americas from Patagonia to Alaska. The first humans to populate those continents 15,000 years ago would have seen the last of the colossal sloths, which were subsequently wiped out by a sudden period of interglacial warming.

大象與犀牛
大象是地球上最大的陸地動物，今天牠卻在危害生態系統中另一種巨型動物犀牛，搶奪牠最愛的食物。不過，大象從來都不是佔優的物種。昔日，犀牛的祖先曾雄霸亞洲，體重可高達20噸，是大象的四倍；後來因為生態系統再提供不到足夠的營養給牠們，犀牛的祖先才步向滅絕。
長毛象同樣遭到氣候變化的打擊，加上巨大食量未能滿足，無奈絕種。今天，如果我們要保護這班末代巨型動物，就一定要確保牠們得到充足的資源。

Elephants & Rhinoceroses, A Complicated Co-Existence
The largest land animal on Earth, the elephant, is endangering another giant in its ecosystem today as it robs the rhinoceros of some of its favorite food. Yet the elephant has not always been a dominant species. In the past, the ancestors of the rhino ruled in Asia. They weighed 20tons–four times the weight of an elephant. They disappeared when their ecosystem could no long provide enough nutrition for them.
Mammoths, too, were doomed by climate change and their need for huge quantities of food. Today, if we are to protect our last giant animals, we must make sure they have adequate resources.

爬行動物
三米長的科莫多龍是全世界最大隻的蜥蜴，一口就能將水牛和鹿咬死。不過，牠沒有調節體溫的能力，寒冷時要曬太陽取暖，炎熱時要遮蔭避免身體過熱。綠森蚺可長達六米，大部份時間浸在水中靜候比自己大隻的獵物，將牠勒死。
科莫多龍和綠森蚺的祖先都是巨型動物，分別是超過五米長的古巨蜥和可長達12米的泰坦蟒蛇。不過，古巨蜥從沒像科莫多龍和綠森蚺般攀上過食物鏈頂端；而泰坦蟒蛇則要依賴非常濕熱的氣候才能維生。今日，因為處女地相繼消失，加上原生棲息地被人類入侵的情況愈來愈多，科莫多龍和綠森蚺正面臨絕種。

Reptiles, Dependent on Climate
The 3-meter long Komodo dragon is the world’s largest lizard and can kill buffalo or deer with a single bite. However, it cannot regulate its body temperature and so needs sun to warm it up or shade to avoid overheating.
The green anaconda can grow up to 6 meters in length. It spends most of its time in the water, looking for prey larger than itself which it crushes to death.
The Komodo dragon and anaconda had giant ancestors: the Megalania, a lizard over 5 meters long, and the Titanoboa, a constrictor snake that sometimes grew to 12 meters. However, unlike the dragon and anaconda, the Megalania never reached the top of its food chain. As for the Titanoboa, it needed a very hot, wet climate to survive. Today, the Komodo dragon and anaconda are endangered by the disappearance of their virgin territories and the growing invasion of their original habitats by human beings.

日本是亞洲第一個工業化經濟體，但在2019年的性別落差指數中，日本排名第121，比非洲國家安哥拉還要低。記者荒木悠美走訪日本，探索在這個根深蒂固的父權社會中，身為女人的意味。

荒木悠美去到一所「淑女」學校參加速成班，學習日本女性成為完美妻子的基本功：由走路到跟丈夫談天時的坐姿。但是，這些對作為賢妻良母的傳統規條，正隨著日本社會的變化慢慢被改寫。荒木悠美並走訪了幾位挑戰現狀的日本女性：有的選擇事業放棄婚姻；有的闖入男性主導的行業，開闢新路。婦女不再是受限於家中的旁觀者，她們努力發聲，特別是在面對不公義的時候。最後，荒木悠美參加了日本的花朵運動，見證了婦女們團結一致，為性別平等而奮鬥，這是她參與過最有力量的集會。

But this prescribed rulebook that once guided the conduct of Japanese women is slowly being rewritten as Japan's society changes. Yumi meets women who challenge the status quo by choosing career over marriage and others who are forging a new paths by breaking into male dominated industries. Women are no longer passive bystanders who are relegated to the interior of their homes and they are making their voices heard, especially in the face of injustice. Yumi participates in the Flower Demonstration and witnesses her most powerful rally, as women gather in solidarity to fight for gender equality.
