Setting up a Lennon Wall or joining in a rally may be the most visible way to help the Hong Kong protests from abroad, but it isn't necessarily the best. Below are some other ideas on how to support the protest from afar.

If you’re part of a community group, association or organization, publish a statement in support of the protestors. If possible, band together with other groups to sign a joint statement.
Hold discussions within your diaspora communities, with folks who are on the fence or self-identified centrists. But approach with caution if folks are already staunchly against the protests.

Call your representatives:
Tell them you are very concerned about the situation in Hong Kong.
Ask them to support the call to suspend future sales of munitions and crowd control equipment to the Hong Kong police.
Ask them to support passage of the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act (H.R. 3289) (S. 1838).

1. Calling on your government to uphold its obligations under the Charter of the United Nations, the Arms Trade Treaty, the Convention against Torture and under customary international law by taking the following measures.
2. Immediately cease the direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer of equipment or arms that could be used for internal repression, torture and other cruel, inhumane and degrading treatments as well as other serious human right violations in Hong Kong.
3. Maintain the above restrictions on arms transfers unless and until an independent investigation committee is in place in Hong Kong to carry out full, prompt, independent and impartial investigations into human rights violations committed by all responsible parties with the aim of prosecuting and bringing them to justice.
4. Investigate and prosecute any individual and legal person, who is responsible for the torture, cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment as well as other human right violations in Hong Kong, including those aiding, assisting, abetting or otherwise facilitating the commission of the aforementioned international crimes.
5. Calling on your Parliament as well as all relevant committees in the Parliament to hold regular and public hearings on the situation in Hong Kong.

6. Calling on the European Union to adopt a Council Decision and Council Regulation prohibiting the sale, supply, transfer or export of any equipment that has been and could be used for internal repression in Hong Kong and in the People’s Republic of China, clarifying that this includes armoured vehicles, small arms, less lethal equipment and related ammunition used for policing demonstrations and places of detention
