Duress is a defence to all crimes
except murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to murder and treason involving the death of the sovereign.
The defence is not available to a person charged with murder whether as principal or as an aider, abettor, counselor or procurer: R v Howe [1987] AC 417 , HL, overruling Lynch v DPP for Northern Ireland [1975] AC 653 , HL; R v Pang Shunyee [1988] 2 HKLR 146 .
