It has been a carefully constructed plan by Gollan to go four weeks between runs into Saturday's's Champions Mile, with another four weeks until a trip abroad.
"The fact we could back off him and have a week of recovery after that effort and work back up to it really helps," Gollan said.
"We have always been thinking about Hong Kong and there was always going to be a run before Hong Kong, so I was mindful of giving him enough time for that.
"I have always been thinking about leaving petrol in the tank and being able to back off him for Hong Kong."
