Australia’s leading trainer Ciaron Maher will have his first Hong Kong runner at next month’s international meeting with the speedster Recommendation confirmed for the trip.
Maher said the time was right for the five-time stakes winner of nine races to test himself overseas with the $4 million Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) earmarked on December 8.
“It’s a step-up for him but he’s in good form and he’s a quick horse that bangs himself on speed and makes his own luck,” Maher said of the $1 million earner in stakes from 22 runs.
“The horse has had a good prep and he’ll be fresh into it, which he likes to be.
“The owners are really keen to travel and he’s the right horse at the right time to try something like this.
“His rating is going up, he’s a good honest horse, and I think he looks better now than he has at any stage of his preparation.”
Blake Shinn or Mark Zahra will ride the sprinter at Sha Tin.
