It’s been mentioned before but this time a Hong Kong trip is on the agenda in 2025 for Australia’s most dependable galloper Mr Brightside.
Co-trainer Ben Hayes said next year was the right time to take the eight-time Group 1 winner overseas to contest a race and he has earmarked the Champions Mile at Sha Tin on April 27.
“I feel like it’s the right time. He’s seven. He’s done everything he can in Australia. He’s been very competitive,” Hayes said.
He said a couple of the Hong Kong stars, including champion Golden Sixty, had retired so that also influenced their decision.
“We will get a good guide when Antino runs in the Hong Kong Mile as to the strength of the locals as well,” he said.
