Limited options in attack for Newcastle
Every member of Newcastle’s front three scored in the first pre-season game against SpVgg Unterhaching, and the same front three should start against the Tigers.
That means Harvey Barnes, Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy will be playing together again, as Howe does not really have any alternatives – unless he decides to put his trust in youth.
Trevan Sanusi and Garang Kuol are options to feature, but there are no senior alternatives. Gordon and Miguel Almiron are still away, while Callum Wilson is injured. Elsewhere, Ryan Fraser is training with the Newcastle Under-21s.

Almiron has been offered a “huge” deal by a Saudi Pro League club which will see the Paraguay international land a mammoth pay hike.
Newcastle are in the market for a new winger as they lay the groundwork for Almiron’ and Jacob Murphy’s departure.
The club have an interest in Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville but have made an approach for Chelsea’s Noni Madueke as revealed on 19th July by Football Insider.

Reports have been suggesting that talks were ongoing and progressing well between Newcastle and AC Milan over their young centre-back Malick Thiaw, with the move being 'imminent' for the past fortnight.
Given that Thiaw is part of Paulo Fonseca's squad of players who have gone off to the USA for a pre-season tour, that would suggest that things aren't as advanced as journalists would have us believe.
Meanwhile, Martin Hardy of The Times has given a reason as to why things may be progressing slower than we were initially led to believe.

The 21-year-old, who scored for Spain at the Olympic Games this week, also has admirers from sides such as Bologna and Roma, with the Magpies potentially in the middle of a tug-of-war for his signature.
Whilst it’s unknown how much a deal would cost for the Spaniard, he could potentially be available for a reasonable fee considering his side’s relegation from La Liga at the end of last season.

Newcastle United are getting closer to signing Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, while Miguel Almiron is reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ over a move away from St James’ Park.
Madueke was born in London and spent time in the Tottenham Hotspur academy before heading abroad by joining PSV’s youth ranks in July 2018. The right winger eventually graduated to the PSV first team and went on to make 80 senior appearances for the Dutch side, notching 20 goals and 14 assists in that time.
