Roma midfielders Bryan Cristante and Nemanja Matic had a tense confrontation in last night’s win over Real Sociedad at the Stadio Olimpico.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Cristante’s lost possession in the second half caused his teammate, Nemanja Matic, to raise his voice at him, confronting him head on. Cristante responded with equally harsh words.

Gini Wijnaldum was called to intervene and separate the two. But, as revealed in Matic’s post-match comments, the confrontation took place in the heat of the moment. There is no bad blood between the two players. On the contrary, Mourinho praised them for their mentality in his post-match reaction.
