Manchester United have shown Arsenal how to secure Ben White deal after agreeing £73m transfer
Arsenal are yet to reach an agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion to complete a deal to sign England international Ben White in this summer's transfer window
Arsenal may want to take a leaf out of Manchester United's book regarding their attempts to secure a deal with Brighton and Hove Albion for Ben White.
Already this summer the Gunners have submitted two bids for the central defender, both of which have been rejected as the 23-year-old is believed to be valued in the region of £50m.
Whilst football.london understands that Arsenal are close to reaching an agreement with the Seagulls for White, they haven't yet and that has prompted talk of other clubs entering the race.
Last week it was Everton and Manchester City, this week it's London rivals Chelsea.
In defence of Mikel Arteta and Edu, there's not much more they can do regarding White as even if a fee was to be agreed, a deal won't be finalised until after England's participation at Euro 2020 is over.
As explained by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate before the tournament began.
"We are not going to stop the phone ringing and cannot control conversations going on in private,” Southgate told reporters at a news conference.
"But I think most deals are done at the end of tournaments or in the first week after the end of the season. I would expect any deals to be done after the tournament."
With that said, Man United have shown Arsenal exactly how to secure a deal for an England international.
The Red Devils have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign Jadon Sancho in a transfer worth £73million.
However, the 21-year-old has not officially been announced as a United player just yet as, like White, he is away on international duty with England.
But he is expected to sign his contract and pass a medical once Euro 2020 is over.
So for Arsenal to move this White deal along, all they need to do is follow United's example by having an agreement in place with Brighton and then complete all the formalities whenever England exit the aforementioned tournament.
