Confirmed Cases and Compulsory Testing
March 14, 2021
Dear staff and students,
We would like to alert you that the following two locations on our main campus have been included in the compulsory testing notice issued by the Government on March 13, 2021.
6/F, Kadoorie Biological Sciences Building
Department of Earth Sciences, 3/F, Hui Oi Chow Building
Any person who had been present at either of the specified premises listed above for more than two hours at any time during the period from February 28 to March 13, 2021 (including but not limited to full-time, part-time and relief staff, students and visitors), must undergo compulsory COVID-19 testing by March 16, 2021. Persons subject to compulsory testing can receive free testing in community testing centres or mobile specimen collection stations. Please refer to the details from the Government notice here. You will be required to submit your negative test results to your department head before you can come back to campus.
We further recommend testing by HKU members who are not included in the compulsory testing notice but (i) work in the School of Biological Sciences and the Department of Earth Sciences or (ii) have interacted with staff from these two departments for more than two hours at any time during the period from February 28 to March 13, 2021. The University will reimburse testing cost if any, with a cap of HK$240, for any University staff or student in this group. Please consult your Head of Department/School/Unit if you are unsure about your eligibility for reimbursement. Other individuals will be responsible for their own testing costs if any. Please also discuss your work and study arrangement with your supervisors while waiting for the test results.
