根據HKIS (香港測量師學會) 分類，Surveying有6個stream，分別為:
1) BS (Building Surveyor)
2) GP (General Practice Surveyor) / ES (Estate Surveying)
3) LS (Land surveyor)
4) P&D (Planning & Development)
5) PFM (Property & Facility management)
6) QS (Quantity Surveyor)

Jupas收生入面
其中HKU (JS6016) 同PolyU (JS3789) 個surveying programme
主要都係QS BS GP,畢業後除左LS牌其他牌都可以去考
而LS牌就要 PolyU (JS3387)
CityU (JS1201) 只可以考QS BS, 當中大部分會揀QS
由於P&D同PFM太冷門，以下主要討論BS QS GP三大stream

BS全名Building Surveying
主要工作分三大類，包括building control，maintenance以及project management。
Building control指根據法例，例如Buildings Ordinance，規管樓宇設計同建造，簡單嚟講就係「批則」同執法，所以有一大堆例要背，例如走廊要幾闊窗要幾大走火要幾多度門之類，但一般唔太需要背案例。
當年689話唔知自己間屋有潛建，因為佢唔係果方面專業，講緊嘅就係睇潛建主要係BS，而689係外國讀GP，但其實佢係香港poly讀BS HD嘅
至於maintenance就講點樣keep the building safe，要學點樣補石屎防漏水之類，用咩物料咩方法都要識。至於project management就要管一單project，通常我地會考慮錢同時間，例如港豬澳大橋點解又超支又㢟期，就係project management的問題。

QS全名Quantity Surveying
主要工作係construction，即係起樓，地盤果啲。一般fresh grad QS會先做measurement，就係對住圖紙數番用左幾多物料，例如石屎，鐵，門，門較，門鎖。我無誇張，的確係咁detail咁枯燥乏味⋯
然後就可以接觸contract/payment，例如你係contractor side，即係承建商果邊，你就要study份contract，睇下點樣可以問client，例如政府，掙多啲錢，可能係對方改圖則要賠償等等。

GP全名General Practice / ES (Estate Surveying)
再可以細分多個範疇，例如valuation(估價)，leasing(租務), investment等等。
估價通常指估地價，例如新聞每次講政府賣地都會有條柒頭講市場預期，
最後成交價又比預期上限仲高左50%果啲，個估算就係呢款測量師做。
租務通常講商場同寫字樓，住宅太細，除非成棟咁計，否則一間間計果啲留番比地產狗。咁打理一個商場為例，你要諗tenant mix，諗下點樣renovate個商場，吸引多啲人，甚至幾時賣左佢先搵最多錢。
investment就同BBA差唔多，做research睇下投資邊個商庋，幫基金砌靚個portfolio，要對市場有一定觸覺，溝通同socialize skill亦係3個stream之中要求最高。

目前本港只有三間大學開辦測量學 full time ugc Bachelor Degree

HKU JS6016 BSc in Surveying
每年收生人數: 約60人
收生分數: Best5 ~28-30
課程: 每個stream都教d, 較多畢業生向GP發展

PolyU JS3789 BSc (Hons) in Surveying
每年收生人數: 約40人
收生分數: Best5 ~26-27
課程: Year3 分開 GP 同 QS/BS , Year4再分開QS同BS, stream 人數較平均

CityU JS1201 Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering
每年收生人數: 約120人 Surveying約佔40人
收生分數: Best5 ~21-22
BSc Surveying, BEng Civil Engineering, BEng Architectural Engineering
(Year1後按GPA揀major)
課程: 主要偏向QS 因此較多畢業生向QS發展

Land Surveying就係另一個programme

可見前幾年就算建造業興旺 人工加幅係近年已經開始放緩
例如同期PolyU 醫療科fresh grad平均月入>30k
如果係夠分既DSE學生 又冇乜特別興趣
要諗清楚自己究竟想向邊方面發展
夠分又想搵錢 點解唔讀醫療科呢?

常見問題2: 就業前景

近年測量繼續被兩登以及社會吹奏, 加埋HKIS學會吹奏人工月入(可高達)10萬 ，越來越多人認識測量，覺得有得考牌做專業人士，收分又無medic pharm law咁高，所以每屆都越來越多人報

正正因為前幾年行業發展得快，
HKU對收多左人，PolyU本科+Broad Discipline+ Non jupas HD, CityU本科+Non jupas Asso, 每屆總共超過200人grad
另外仲加埋Thei + Ive, etc每年幾百人

而工程水尾，Civil食屎之際 (呢2年local u grad 2nd up都競爭激烈)
QS都好難置身事外

所謂爆煲係冇幾年前咁好景，但3間local ugc degree未至於搵唔到工
公司整體上收少左人 比前幾年少offer選擇
當然, gpa都唔好太差 因為有d大公司就算你岩岩好得2nd up都未必有得in
不過呢幾年intake多左咁多
其他學院既surveying degree/asso/hd/ive加加埋埋幾百人
而Asso/hd/ive既freshgrad位有限 並唔係個個都有offer
GPA / 醒唔醒目 / 識唔識人就會變得更重要

成日都好多人mon post 但好少人講野

ARCHI 轉去BS 駛唔駛再讀?
archi 個牌連入埸卷既master 都未有 想轉行

大婆唔做走去做二奶
你諗清楚呀

大婆個牌好撚難考呀
讀完MASTER 再做2-3年 先有得考7份PAPER 唔敢賭

RICS 可能接受
不過點解有archi 唔做去做BS
archi 先係大佬wo

所以果陣city asso 有同學係讀archi 都唔知點算1
BS 都話可以asso 考牌或者做野
archi 要master wo，差左成2級，隨時果D assistant 位都唔會請

有冇師兄收到政府intern

City asso 冇所謂既 都識人讀city asso 再轉去讀hkuspace topup 再上kong u master 既
但真係要好有heart 先得lol
由一開始就aim 要考牌好撚勤力
而家停撚左係master個位到
讀一個master 去外國閒閒地20萬一年讀2年連生活費差唔多60萬
翻黎要捱多最快5年先考到牌 仲未計讀master 果2年 total 7年
睇翻bs 如果而家轉過去 可能最快3年考到牌啦
