Maybe it is a little bit difficult for me, even if i spend a great deal of time on checking the dictionary and try to remember the new vocabularies, i forgot most of them

You need to link the vocab items up. Do not treat every word you know as if they were isolated. Try to use a thesaurus to build up the connection between words.
Also, every word comes with a context and a particular usage. Do not just remember the meaning of the word. Try to remember its usage.

Why not go through all the HKCEE reading materials?
The reading passages are all very carefully chosen.
You can start from HKCEE Syllabus A then HKCEE Syllabus B.
You do not have to attempt the questions since it is not for exam drilling.
Try to understand the passage and learn the usage of the vocab items.

Some people may wonder after studying in the university for 4years, my English proficiency should have been improved a lot. That's true, but its still far from being good, in particular speaking and writing skills

5**

you must be very smart. Would you memorize vocab everyday?

too flattering haha
Not really.. The key is to understand the context and the usage..
Do not try to recite vocab list like those tutor-kings. Try to read more instead. Reading is the really the key.

As a one who got 5** reading, I read every day. If you don't like SCMP, you may choose The Economist. It is difficult, but it is better than SCMP(sometimes the English there is not very good, not precise enough, typical Hong Kong Style English that try to use difficult big word to show off)
Sometimes HKEAA chooses articles from the Economist. I hope it can help you.

What kind of materials would you read aside from the economist?

Read something you really like or want to learn.
I want to learn about investment, so I am now reading "The Intelligent Investor", suggested by Warren Buffet.
If you find reading books is boring, you may read the subtitles of movies, TV, YouTube programmes. Do remember, reading subtitles is training your reading skills, not listening. Only listening without subtitles is the way to improve your English hearing.
