大家好。我係一個唔起眼嘅普通人，想藉呢個平台同大家分享我點解能夠put my faith in Jesus Christ
我以前都唔能夠相信真係有一個能夠施行神蹟嘅神存在。又醫好盲人對眼，又將水變成酒，又行喺水上面，呢啲故事對於生活喺2024年，喺一個科學based嘅世界入面生活嘅我嚟講好難去接受，因為已經超越咗我對物理法質嘅理解同日常生活嘅認知。但耶穌依然用佢嘅方法搵翻我，所以都希望喺呢個平台借少少地方分享自己點解會信耶穌
1. 信有一個創造天地萬物嘅神？
好common聽過一啲人傳道話證明有神好簡單，單單睇下the order and design of the universe，見到呢個宇宙係要好多物理常數有啱啱好嘅吻合先得以存在，就知道有個造物主。有句說話係“you’ve never met the builder of your house but you know that there is a builder”。但呢個論述對於當時未信耶穌嘅我嚟講唔太有力。我會認為只要時間係無限嘅，一片混沌嘅宇宙by random combinations and by chance都會產生到一個有秩序嘅宇宙出嚟。所以我唔係被呢個世界嘅秩序說服到有神嘅存在，而係歷史。到底喺歷史上耶穌係唔係一個真實存在嘅人？
2. 耶穌是否一個historical figure?
現今幾乎所有歷史學者都同意耶穌確實存在於歷史上(Beilby & Eddy, 2009; Burridge & Gould, 2004; Ehrman, 2011; Grant, 2004)，而大部分嘅學者都同意耶穌受洗於施洗約翰(John the Baptist)、同猶太教權威人士(Pharisees)辯論、驅魔、召集男女信徒、設喻講道、赴耶路撒冷最後被彼拉多處死(Levine, 2006)。由歷史學，現有嘅研究足以令我認為好有可能耶穌係一個喺歷史上存在嘅figure。正如我冇見過拿破崙，但我好似都未曾質疑過佢會唔會係一個當時嘅人所編造出嚟嘅人物，因為我認為歷史係可信嘅。
咁世界上有幾多人同意耶穌喺歷史上係真實存在嘅呢？56%，超過一半嘅世界總人口同意耶穌喺歷史上係真實存在，當中有31.1%係基督徒，24.9%係穆斯林(Muslim)。當然伊斯蘭教(Islam)同耶穌基督有一個好大嘅分別，篇幅所限今次就暫時唔喺度詳述。但我認為藉住超過一半嘅世界總人口都相信耶穌喺歷史上係真實存在，呢件事加上歷史學者嘅共同觀點，令到耶穌喺歷史上確實存在呢個睇法有一定可信嘅程度。就當耶穌係一個喺歷史上存在嘅人，咁到底佢係唔係神呢？
3. 耶穌是否一個神?
耶穌施行咗好多次神蹟，而當中最說服到我佢真係神嘅essence係喺佢嘅復活(resurrection)。耶穌30歲開始傳道，教導正確嘅道德(moral)。喺佢嘅影響力日漸增長嘅時候，猶太嘅宗教領袖開始仇視佢影響到自己嘅權力。耶穌多次表明自己就係神，John 14:6提到，"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’”。猶太宗教領袖以「自稱神的兒子基督」的褻瀆(blasphemy)罪名控告耶穌，最後羅馬總督彼拉多命令將耶穌釘死喺十字架上，然後被放置咗喺墓室。
三日之後，幾位婦女首先發現耶穌嘅墓變空咗。呢度係我其中一個能夠信到耶穌的確復活咗嘅essence，就係故事入面係描寫由幾位婦女首先發現。喺嗰個年代女性講嘢嘅地位係好低，如果要編造一個故事出嚟，有得揀嘅情況下未必會描寫係由女性首先發現耶穌嘅墓變空咗。然後耶穌喺起碼8次唔同場合向超過500人展現自己死而復活嘅肉身，每一個人都係親眼見證耶穌復活嘅人(eyewitnesses)。John 20:25-29提到，”But he said to them, ‘Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.’
A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’ Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.’
Thomas said to him, ‘My Lord and my God!’
Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed’”. 就算係喺當時耶穌嘅其中一個門徒Thomas都唔能夠相信耶穌真係一個戰勝死亡嘅主，話要親手摸到耶穌雙手被釘穿嘅窿先能夠相信，而佢又真係親身接觸到死而復活嘅耶穌。
有見證過耶穌死而復活嘅人至死都堅稱耶穌就係嗰位戰勝咗死亡嘅主。Philip被釘十字架處死，Peter被倒立釘十字架處死，Thomas被用矛刺死，仲有James，Jude，Paul，Matthew，Simon，Bartholomew，Andrew，Matthias等等。縱觀歷史，我應該未見過有咁多人承受住excruciating death都要堅稱一個信念，唔肯放棄(renounce)耶穌係一個復活咗嘅神呢個claim。所以我願意相信呢啲親眼見證耶穌復活嘅人嘅見證(testimony)好大機會係真。
4. why 信耶穌？
由以上嘅討論，我認為好大機會耶穌係真實存在喺歷史上，亦都真係神。但我都唔能夠100%確定。所以我問神如果佢係真嘅可唔可以show俾我睇。Matthew 7:7提到， “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you”. 呢個神係一個公義嘅神，同時佢亦都係憐憫體恤嘅。佢明白我地可能會因為仲有某啲想法而未能夠put faith in Him yet，我都唔係一開始就認定耶穌就係神，但我諗我第一步係有一個open mind先，然後神點樣慢慢展現俾我睇佢真係存在就係佢嘅工作。可能你可以話係巧合，未必係神。我諗神好明白我地未信到佢嘅位，只要我地願意俾空間佢展現自己到底係唔係真實存在，佢都唔會急於要我地好快就能夠put our faith in Him。
神係好gentle嘅一個神，佢唔會用佢嘅大能強行洗腦令你信佢，甚至佢都一直只係喺你嘅心出面敲門，唔會自己開門入嚟。個人嘅經歷就係俾咗個機會神去展現佢就係真正嘅神，然後經歷咗神，相信到Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead，繼而相信到舊約聖經同新約聖經。耶穌嘅存在就係我信仰嘅基石。所以我未必可以直接由證明天堂存在去證明神係真嘅，而我係首先put my faith in Jesus Christ，繼而相信到佢嘅教導，相信到佢就係應驗咗舊約聖經超過300個預言(prophecies)嘅救世主，為我釘死喺十架上贖我嘅罪，相信到聖父、聖子、聖靈係三位一體嘅神。
我信耶穌一開始嘅目標都未必係為咗上天堂。耶穌係有能力幫助你嘅生活，前提係你願意俾佢幫你，因為呢個唔係一個專制逼你接受佢嘅神。我相信神係好願意透過一次又一次嘅幫助你令你慢慢去分得清到底呢一個係唔係一個真實存在嘅神。

FAQ
Q: Why do I have to put my faith in Jesus Christ if He has already died for my sins? Is God really loving if He sends me to hell just because I don’t believe in Him?
A: Christianity is not a religion that forces it down your throat. We get to choose if we want to accept salvation. Because God is just, we will go to hell for our sins. However, there is an exception, that is the salvation offered by Jesus Christ. This is a “give and take” concept. If I offer you a meal, but you don’t accept it, then I cannot really provide you with a meal. Same goes with salvation through Christ’s blood. Salvation is put here, but it is up to you whether you want to receive it or not, which I can respect your decision whichever you choose. To conclude, “normally” the plot of our lives is to go to hell because of our sins, but the good news is that we can choose to accept Jesus’ sacrifice for us which God offers because of love. Other than being just, it is also important to see God as our Heavenly Father. He always sees us as His precious children and wants to grow close with us, but He is gentle. He lets us choose whether or not we want to grow close with Him. It is written in James 4:8 that “Come near to God and he will come near to you”.
Q: So can I sin as much as I want after receiving the salvation?
A: It is written in the Hebrews 10:26-27 that “If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God”. As I walk with God, I find out that the desire to sin less is not because of rules in the Bible, but because of Jesus’ love for me. After all, God is our Heavenly Father, who loves us so much that He came lived on earth and died for our sins. When I think of how Jesus thought of me while enduring excruciating pain on the cross, I want to do better for Him. God loves us, and our reciprocal love is strong enough to draw us closer to Him and away from sins.
Q: Why suffering?
A: This is a tough question, but there are 2 relevant concepts - free will granted by God and sinful nature of mankind. From the Bible we can see that God respects our power to choose, which essentially is free will. Say for example I bully someone at workplace God is not going to appear in front of me and stop me. We get to choose what we do. However, there is sinful nature in mankind. That is why sometimes we fall short and sin. From my example, because I abuse my free will to sin, my colleague suffers. Nevertheless, the promise in the Bible is that we get to re-establish connection with God through Christ’s blood. Heaven is essentially eternal companion by God, and hell is essentially eternal separation from God. So my personal belief is that God is indeed loving and doesn’t want to see us suffering, so it is up to us to choose whether we want to accept Christ’s salvation and be reconciled with God where there is no more sufferings in Heaven. But I understand that it is sometimes hard to accept suffering, for I was also torn apart by the world into pieces. Words fail when we are at our lowest. I am very much willing to pray for you if you are suffering. Here’s a Bible verse for you in case you needed one. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Q: Why pray when God is all-knowing?
A: I am not good at theological explanations. I would just like to share what I think. For me praying is not for God to know what I think, for He is all-knowing and for sure knows what I think. Praying helps me tidy up my thoughts as I speak to God and it also helps me establish connection with God. There is much difference in my distance from God when I didn’t pray to when I pray daily talking to my Heavenly Father.

A: The need of faith. I do not doubt at the slightest God’s ability to show Himself before anyone at anytime. He is all-powerful, surpassing space and time. But I think that the reason is faith. Can we get to know God and recognise that He is the only truth in today’s world filled with worldly things and desires? One method I used to get to know God more is watching short YouTube videos about the Bible to get to know more about the entire story.
Q: How about repenting and believing in the Gospel right before death so I can enjoy worldly things first?
A: I don’t know when I will die, so I’d want to make sure that I put my faith in Christ as soon as possible. In addition, the blessings that God has prepared for His children is wonderful. I wish that I have repent and believed in the Gospel sooner and lived in God’s grace sooner.
Q: Does the concept of mankind having free will contradicts with God being all-knowing ?
A: I believe the answer to this question is no. Both concepts are true at the same time yet not contradicting. We get to choose in our lives, and God is outside of space and time so He already knows what will happen in your life. That God knows your decisions in life doesn’t imply that He chooses for us. It is just that God is outside of time and has a different perspective. Imagine you watching a replay of a football match, you’d know the results, but you are not intervening how the players play in the match.
Q: Why are there so many corrupted churches? Why do bad people prosper?
A: Because of free will of mankind granted by God and sinful nature in us. People may be bad, but Jesus loves you 🫶🏻 I did bad things and I am still a sinner in desperate need of God’s grace and mercy. I am glad that God didn’t send me to hell right away but offered me time to repent and follow Him. I see that God is still giving chance to “bad” people, and I am no one to judge, for I am also a sinner myself.
Q: Why are there people that are Christians yet bad people?
A: We are not perfect. We can always try our best to become more like Christ but none of us can live our lives in a perfect way. That is why we need Jesus who lived a perfect and sinless life to pay the price of our sins. I pray that God brings those who have went astray back to Him 🫶🏻 I am also a sinner myself and I am at no position to judge anyone who I see as “bad”.
Q: There are different denominations, Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, etc. Is Christianity the religion that I should follow?
A: I see all people as my brothers and sisters in Christ. There is a video that I watched which helped me grasp the differences between the denominations. Although there may be some minor disagreements between each denominations, the most important thing is that we all follow Christ. At the heart of Christianity is the belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, the Saviour and Messiah. Christians seek to follow the teachings of Jesus which centres around love, compassion, forgiveness, and service to others. Jesus is Lord.

Q: I have done things that are too bad for me to follow Christ
A: “You don’t get clean to get in the shower, you get in the shower to get clean”. Jesus thought of you when He was on the cross, He saw every good thing and bad thing that you will ever do in your life, He knows you by heart. Yet He still willingly died for you. God sees you as His precious child, precious to which He lived on earth in the form of human flesh and died for you. I pray that God helps you understand how much He loves you and that God gives you the strength to come to Him 🫶🏻

A: “You don’t get clean to get in the shower, you get in the shower to get clean”. Jesus thought of you when He was on the cross, He saw every good thing and bad thing that you will ever do in your life, He knows you by heart. Yet He still willingly died for you. God sees you as His precious child, precious to which He lived on earth in the form of human flesh and died for you. I pray that God helps you understand how much He loves you and that God gives you the strength to come to Him 🫶🏻

猶太人既希伯來聖經好清楚咁講左，神揀亞伯拉罕揀以色列人，係為左所有人得福。
創世記12:1-3

2 我要使你成為大國，我要賜福給你，我要使你的名為大；你要成為蒙福的人；
3 我要賜福給那些祝福你的人；那詛咒你的人，我要詛咒；地上萬族都會藉著你蒙福。”//
神揀選猶太人，係比任務佢地，按住神既律法教導而活，比其他民族都睇到以致認識神。
