Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Finally, I am following the trend of hashtag#exodus: escaping from Washington University in St. Louis, one of the worst toxic environments. I almost died in my office due to armed hashtag#police hashtag#brutality ordered by the university hashtag#leadership. No hashtag#medic came to the scene. Since 2017 when my literally dying period started as I described in my glorified version of the Science Magazine article below, or way before 2012 when I joined it, the university has hashtag#discriminated, hashtag#harassed, and hashtag#retaliated against people of hashtag#color, hashtag#females, and hashtag#international people, and they have been covering up their hashtag#crimes by creating hashtag#fear or hashtag#horror among people and oppressing the hashtag#freedom of hashtag#speech, the constitutional human hashtag#right, while recently starting non-functional top-down hashtag#DEI programs to please the government and hide their dark and disgusting nature. Most of my so-called colleagues have remained quiet or helped the university cover them up, while ones who spoke up left it due to the university’s retaliation, or have been fired, retaliated against, or in the process of being fired although they were tenured professors.
The hashtag#silver lining is that there are still some colleagues and friends who secretly help those people without power in the university, including me, while worrying about their safety and job security. For their protection, I thank them without naming them. Another good thing is that although I was forced to leave it, my move attempts have been sabotaged multiple times by the leadership, and I failed to change the toxic culture despite my three years of effort, now I have the superpower of recognizing good people or bad people. I will announce soon the new institute where most of the people are great and fantastic.
Please be safe and let’s make this toxic academic culture better for our future generations.
