Arteta - We have a different environment now
The last time we travelled to the London Stadium the Gunners were 3-0 down after just half an hour, before eventually coming back to earn a draw in a thrilling encounter.
A lot has changed both on the pitch an off since that game, back in March 2021, with Arsenal likely to field a completely different defence and goalkeeper this weekend, to that meeting with West Ham last season.
Speaking to the media before Sunday’s game, Mikel Arteta said he hoped the side had 'improved a lot' since that dramatic 3-3 draw last season.
"Especially what we did in the first 20 or 30 minutes," he added. "We put ourselves in a really difficult position. It's true that we reacted phenomenally well, but we want to start the game in a different way."
The boss went on to outline how the team, and the club in general has changed over the past 12 months.
"We have very different players in the squad and we have a very different environment," he said. "I think the unity that exists right now between the team, the staff, our supporters and externally is completely different and is very, very beneficial for the team.
"Obviously, how the team has evolved in its understanding of what we want to do is much better.
"The execution of it is much better, the consistency of results is better and what we're trying to do is seek for improvement every single day and probably what we did a year ago is what you see now."
