The COVID-19 pandemic has been the source of unprecedented disruption and distress for the global community for the past one and a half years. Fortunately, effective vaccines to combat the pandemic have been developed and are now being rolled out across the world, including Hong Kong. These vaccines will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the health of the public and allowing a sense of normality to return to people’s everyday lives.
To enable the University to resume normal operations in teaching, learning and research, including the resumption of face-to-face classes and activities in the new academic year, the University strongly encourages our students and staff to get vaccinated as soon as possible or complete the vaccination 14 days prior to the academic year 2021/22.
To safeguard all members on campus or in halls, all students or colleagues who haven't been vaccinated will be required to provide a weekly COVID-19 screening test report starting from the next academic year.
Those who have legitimate medical reasons not to get vaccinated will be required to take COVID-19 testing weekly which may be done by using the in-house testing via the University Health Service (UHS) free of charge, to help protect their health.
I hope you will join the vaccination effort which is being undertaken internationally in order to help foster a safer and more prosperous future for the world in which we live.
