We would like to sincerely apologise for using a pesudousym and for not disclosing the real names of the authors in the letter titled "Leaderless HK movement thrives on open use of technology".
In view of the recent political struggles in HK, the Hong Kong Police, in the hope of suppressing and silencing the opposing voice, has undertaken illegitimate and unscrupulous measures to persecute protestors. The threat to our liberty, autonomy and safety is real and imminent. Therefore, to safeguard our diminishing, yet indispensable, freedom and rights, we have no choice but to use an pesudousym so as to conceal our true identities, or risk being tyrannised.
Exceptional times call for desperate measures. We plead for your kind understanding in this turbulent and heartbreaking time. The protection of our inalienable human rights is of utmost importance and thus, please reconsider posting our article Remaining anonymous is the only way to make our voices heard. We could not exercise our fundamental freedom of speech if we are forced to use our real names. The world needs know what is really happening in HK through Financial Times, a truly worldwide channel which cherishes and protects the freedom of speech as much as it could.
To show our sincerity and support, we are all ready to subcribe FT.
Thank you very much for your understanding and for your uncompromising and unqualified support for human rights.
