POLITICSMnuchin, Haspel, Pompeo Prepare Plan to Target Chinese Bankers Doing Business with North Korea
At the direction of White House National Security Advisor John Bolton, the Department of the Treasury, CIA and State Department are preparing plans to target high-level executives of Chinese Banks that continue to do business with North Korea in violation of international sanction unanimously approved earlier this year.
The plan, which was recently completed and presented to President Trump, is considered part of a broader plan to punish North Korea in the event that diplomacy over denuclearization fails to bear fruit.
The Chinese Bank executives will face consequences ranging from asset freezes and forfeitures to travel bans. An early draft of this plan obtained by The Washington Reporter includes more than a dozen executives.
