有句講得幾好 your body is a miracle.
幾千年既人類社會已經複雜到咁個撚樣 ,經過起碼幾萬年進化既人體又會有幾on9呢

Heart 心臟 (1)

The heart is considered as the core of our body. It represents life. But have you ever wondered, what actually the heart does in our body? Let's find out. 

    心臟係我地既生命中心,佢甚至係生命既象徵。但你有冇曾經好奇過,到底所謂既心臟係我地身體入面係有咩用呢? 一齊搵出黎啦。

    The heart is a pump. It pressurizes the blood flow so that every single cell in our body can have blood flowing by. (note that cells need to get nutrients and oxygen from blood)

    其實心臟係一個泵。係一個用黎幫血液加壓,令到血液流動既一個泵,就係心臟依個泵令到血液可以流經我地身體既每一個細胞。
(細胞需要血液幫佢帶D營養同氧氣比佢)

(Anatomy) (解剖學)

    To find out how our heart works as a pump, let's take a look at the basic anatomical structures of the heart. 

    要搵出心臟依個泵點運作,我地首先要了解一下解剖學上基本既心臟結構。



    Like our brain, the heart consists of left and right parts, having similar anatomical structures and physiological functions. The main difference is that the right heart is pumping deoxygenated blood and the left heart is pumping oxygenated blood. (note that the left and right is flipped as it is in the perspective of the heart)

    就好似個腦,我地既心臟都有分左右,而且係係解剖結構同生理作用上都幾似下。而左心臟同右心臟最大既分別係,左邊係泵帶氧血液;右邊係泵缺氧血液。(記得要反轉左右,即係以心臟既角度分左右)


    Look into a half, it consists of three main parts, the inner cavity, valves and connected vessels. 

    睇其中一半,佢可以分為三個主要部分:內空間、心瓣、血管。


    The inner cavities can be further divided into the atrium and the ventricle, surrounded by cardiac (adjective of heart) muscle, so it is where the blood flowed into and pushed out. The atrium in the left is called left atrium. The atrium in the right is called right atrium. Same naming logic applies on ventricles. 

    咁內空間呢又可以再分為心房(atrium) 同心室(ventricle) ,因為佢地係比心臟肌肉包住既,所以呢內空間主要係比血液流過同埋推D血液出去。命名上都幾無聊下,左邊既心房就叫左心房,右邊既心房就叫右心房。心室都係一樣。


    The valves prevent blood from back flowing. There are two kinds of valves, atrioventricular valves (AV valves) and semilunar valves, named by their shape and location. The right AV valve is called tricuspid valve because the valve consists of 3 cuspids. The left AV valve is called mitral valve or bicuspid valve because the valve consists of 2 cuspids. Moreover, The right semilunar valve is called the pulmonary (adjective of lung) valve, as the blood in right ventricle flows toward lung. The left semilunar valve is called the aortic (note that aorta is the main vessels of our body) valve, as the blood in left ventricle flows toward aorta. 

    跟住就到心瓣啦。心瓣既功能係防止血液倒流 (要知道血液只會得一種流向,唔係就會仆街)。咁心瓣有兩種既,一種係房室瓣 (AV valves) ,另一種係半月瓣 (semilunar valve),咁主要都係以佢地既位置同埋形狀命名既。再將房室瓣分落去,係左邊心臟既房室瓣就叫二尖瓣(mitral valve / bicuspid valve) ,因為佢有兩個瓣;係右邊心臟既房室瓣就叫三尖瓣(tricuspid valve),因為佢有三個瓣,其實都幾撚on9。將半月瓣分落去,係左邊心臟既半月瓣就叫主動脈瓣(aortic valve) ,因為左邊心臟係將D血泵去個主動脈(aorta) ;係右邊心臟既半月瓣就叫肺動脈瓣(pulmonary valve) ,因為左邊心臟係將D血泵去個肺(lung) 個邊。


    The vessels are where the blood flow in and out. Actually, there are two kinds of vessels in our body, veins and arteries, where veins are the vessels that bring blood towards heart and arteries are the vessels that bring blood leaving the heart. The two biggest veins in our body are superior and inferior vena cava, connected to the right atrium. The biggest artery in our body is aorta, connected to the left ventricle. The right ventricle connected to pulmonary artery which further divided into left and right pulmonary artery. The left atrium connected to left and right pulmonary veins. 

    最後係D血管(vessels) 。其實呢血管又可以分做動脈(arteries) 同靜脈(veins) ,佢地其實唔係以D血帶唔帶氧去分類,而係用血液既流向:動脈血液流出心臟;靜脈血液流向心臟。最大既動脈叫主動脈(aorta) ,連接左心室,而最大既靜脈叫腔靜脈(vena cava) ,佢可以細分為上腔靜脈(superior vena cava) 同下腔靜脈 (inferior vena cava) ,連接右心房。最後最後就係左心房連接肺動脈 (佢又有分左右肺動脈),而右心室連接左右肺靜脈。

    Further look into the basic physiological functions of the heart. 

    跟住就係D基本既心臟生理作用啦。


    In the perspective of a single blood cell

    以一粒血液裡面細胞既角度咁睇。


    Our blood delivered the nutrients and oxygen to any cells, bringing back wastes. The deoxygenated blood flows into the right atrium from the superior and inferior vena cava. Then, the right atrium muscle contracts and push the blood into the right ventricle. After that, the right ventricle muscle contracts and push blood into the pulmonary arteries. The deoxygenated blood oxygenates and flows back to the left atrium through the left and right pulmonary veins. Then, the left atrium muscle contracts and push the blood into the left ventricle. Finally, the left ventricle muscle contracts and push the blood into the aorta. The cycle continues. 

    首先,血液成功地將營養同氧氣帶左比身體既其他細胞,重帶埋垃圾番泥。跟住,個D缺氧血液就會由上下腔靜脈流入右心房,右心房D肌肉收縮,推D血液入右心室,右心室既肌肉又推D血液去肺動脈。咁D血去左肺到拎氧,就變左帶氧血,經由左右肺靜脈入左心房,左心房D肌肉收縮,推D血液入左心室,左心室既肌肉又推D血液去主動脈,D血又可以再循環LO。


    In our perspective, the heart contract in both atriums at the same time, same as ventricles. 

    不過其實以我地既角度呢,個心既左右心房肌肉係同時收縮既,心室亦然。


    When both ventricle's muscles contract, the AV valves (tricuspid and mitral valve) closed due to the blood flow and forms the 'lup' sound (First heartbeat, S1). After a while, the cardiac semilunar valves (pulmonary and aortic valves) close due to the back flowing blood and forms the 'dup' sound (Second heartbeat, S2). This is the mechanism of the heartbeat. 

    所以呢,當兩個心室既肌肉同時收縮,D流動既血液就會令到兩個房室瓣一齊刪撚左,就會有第一下心跳聲。過一陣,因為D倒流血令到兩個半月瓣又刪左,就會有第二下心跳聲。依個就係心跳聲既由來同生理作用。
