Mike Penders will not return to Genk, 19-year-old goalkeeper stays at Chelsea
Domper for Racing Genk. Goaliever Mike Penders will not return to Limburg. However, the club was very happy to rent the 19-year-old goalkeeper from Chelsea for another year, to whom they sold Penders last summer for at least 20 million euros, but the Blues decided otherwise.
Penders is currently with Chelsea at the World Cup for clubs in the United States, but has not yet been on the match sheet there. Yet he already impressed in the States with training. However, the fact that Penders will now remain at Chelsea does not mean that he will also effectively stay at Stamford Bridge throughout the season.
Chances are that Penders will only be the third goalkeeper. In principle, Chelsea does not want to rent it out, but makes it possible an exception for the French Strasbourg, which has the same owner.
