A key part of his development has come through close work with manager Mikel Arteta and the defensive coaching staff. Their tactical insights have proven invaluable: “There have been many pieces of advice, mostly regarding tactical aspects,” Kiwior explains. “They’ve really helped me read the game better and anticipate situations more easily. But it’s not just Mikel Arteta who supports me in this regard—I also work closely with the coach responsible for the defenders, and his input is extremely helpful too.”
Leadership within the squad has also made a big impression on Kiwior. In particular, club captain Martin Ødegaard has provided crucial lessons on handling pressure. “Martin is a real leader on the pitch, and I noticed that most when he was out with an injury,” he reveals. “We really missed him during that time, because in my opinion, he’s the one who handles tough moments best. He knows exactly when to slow the game down and when to speed it up with a pass. Off the pitch, he’s also a great person—very talkative and supportive in the dressing room.”
For young defenders dreaming of a career at the highest level, Kiwior has straightforward advice: “Nowadays, the best advice I could give would be: don’t read pointless online comments, always give 100%, and never get discouraged if you’re not in the starting lineup—keep fighting for your place.”
Reflecting on his recent highlights, Kiwior particularly enjoyed the memorable games against Real Madrid. “Every match in an Arsenal shirt, especially a win, is special and worth remembering—even more so if we keep a clean sheet,” he says. “From last season, the most memorable moments were definitely the games against Real Madrid.” The fans’ backing during and after these matches made a lasting impact: “Yes, absolutely—I really felt the fans’ support, especially after those matches.”
