LN: The Ryuo's Work Is Never Done!
Context:
“Let's play a game of shogi.”
“Now?”
“Yeah.”
Yaichi took a small square box out of his pocket and placed it on the bed.
“If Ginko wins, I'll give this to you.”
“What is it?”
“You'll find out if you win. But I don't think you stand a chance.”
Yaichi replied with a smug smile, his unkempt beard looking rather unsightly.
“I just lost my title to Ayumu, so I’ve lost all my confidence. That’s why I want to beat someone weaker than me to regain my form. Will you help me out?”
“……….”
It had been a long time since I felt this uncomfortable. Having enjoyed a peaceful life for so long, my tolerance for provocation was no longer what it used to be.
“…If you want it, go ahead.”
“I don’t really care, but once I win, what’s inside will be completely mine. If it’s trash, I’ll throw it away without a second thought.”
“Go ahead.”
“So, what if Yaichi wins?”
“If I win…”
Yaichi took his glasses out of his pocket and carefully wiped both lenses before putting them on. This was a ritual he always repeated before starting a serious game of shogi.
Then, Yaichi took a deep breath, looked straight into my eyes, and declared:
“If I win… then marry me.”
