According to a statement from Sparta Prague, its sporting director, Tomas Rosicky, 44, was hospitalized in intensive care last Tuesday due to heart problems. Although no surgery was necessary and the former national team captain has already been discharged for home treatment, Tomas Sivok has been left in charge of the Letná club's sports department for the time being.
"As a player and as a sporting director, I was used to going all out and being headfirst. Not looking left and right, working at 100%. The current situation has shown me that I need to take better care of myself. My poor lifestyle, lack of active exercise, and my family's disposition toward my current problem unfortunately led me to the hospital," Rosicky told the club's website.
