Legendary British rock band Coldplay kicked off their Hong Kong tour on Tuesday at Kai Tak Sports Park, drawing a vibrant crowd that included numerous local celebrities.
Among the audience for the Tuesday concert were actress Maggie Cheung Man-yuk, actor Simon Yam Tat Wah and his supermodel wife Qiqi, along with singers Jay Fung, Cloud Wan Ho-ying, YT Chau Yan-ting, and model Kathy Chow.
Photos shared by the stars on social media showcased the VIP suite which featured a corner bar, comfortable sofas, and a television offering close-up views of the concert stage. Attendees also enjoyed an assortment of food and wine in the VIP area.
In a separate highlight, Marf Yau from the local girl group COLLAR was announced as the guest support act for the concert.
According to sources from Sing Tao Headline, Coldplay typically seeks out local, up-and-coming female singers for their support slots during worldwide performances.
It was reported that Yau was chosen from a pool of 30 candidates, driven by Coldplay's impression of a video clip featuring her performing alongside Australian singer-songwriter Ruel during a show in Hong Kong in 2023.
The band admired her English-language song performances, ultimately leading to her selection for the support role on their Hong Kong tour.
