Aston Villa had three players in England’s starting XI for the first time since 2009 as Morgan Rogers, Ezri Konsa and Marcus Rashford lined up against Latvia on Monday night.
Rogers enjoyed his first senior start for the Three Lions, in what was his fourth cap for his country, and played 90 minutes at Wembley.
Rogers and Rashford, who enjoyed 79 minutes, combined to play their part in England’s second goal of the 3-0 victory, while Konsa completed the encounter and helped keep a clean sheet in the capital.
Gabby Agbonlahor, Gareth Barry and Emile Heskey were the last trio of Villa players to start for England against Spain 16 years ago.
The victory sees England move on to six points from their first two matches in Group K qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
